...we threw the switch and this site went “live”. And we have been providing a (very nearly) uninterrupted free online chess service ever since. For what started as just another hobby project (with a daft name) for two over enthusiastic programmers, this one stuck around.
And to everyone who has played here over the years, assisted with managing the site or sent valued feedback about how we can improve, we would like to thank you, you have made the site what it is. The community here has certainly defined what the site was and has become, and makes this place unique.
I’ll keep this brief, and avoid re-documenting all the events of the first 10 years, but we’ll be doing a few things over the next couple of weeks. First off, sign up to the prize winning tournaments!
Thanks again everyone, I hope you’ll be with us for many more years too.
Congratulations on the 10 years! To the next 10, a raised glass!
I'd like to enter an anniversary tournament to celebrate. Alas, what probably looked like a nice idea on paper, doesn't look so good in practice. Groups of ten are fine. But a 10/10 time limit is way too slow for me - and for many others, I'll bet. A pity

Don't be a spoilsport. Who's going to use up 10 days for every move? You'd be too old for the T-shirt by the time it arrived.
Paul
Edit: I just signed up for the 1750+ banded tournament, and I can already tell my only hope of a T-Shirt is when RHP opens up a "Shop" link!

How many names where created in 10 years of this site?
I think every 10 minutes a new name is made for this site.

E MA HO! How wonderful! We are all very grateful to you, Russ, for hanging in there and making Red Hot Pawn the great site that it is in our tumultuous times. In many ways I just do not know where I might be in my chess adventures without this best of the best sites! Congratulations, Sapan Rinpoche, Club Colorado USA Admin
