Originally posted by NoEarthlyReasonIt is truly a masterpiece of cinema. The cast is awesome, the screenplay superb, the photography and lighting give a sense of what the then court of Henry II might have been like and Eleanor of Aquitaine IMHO was Hepburn's best role and her character one of film's most complex and subtle, loving her man, yet scheming against him at every turn, so true to life and reflective of many marriages. One film I shall never tire of!
I like these a lot, scacchipazzo, thanks for putting this film on my radar. I've put the '68 version on my rental list.
[Alvy addresses a pair of strangers on the street]
Alvy Singer: Here, you look like a very happy couple, um, are you?
Female street stranger: Yeah.
Alvy Singer: Yeah? So, so, how do you account for it?
Female street stranger: Uh, I'm very shallow and empty and I have no ideas and nothing interesting to say.
Male street stranger: And I'm exactly the same way.
Alvy Singer: I see. Wow. That's very interesting. So you've managed to work out something?
