I live in the NW part of the US where I think I am pretty spoiled when it comes to micro-brewed and home brewed beers. I am a bartender and recently have been given the chance to expand my bars beer selection and would like to get some more beers from outside the US. Now I've already stock Stella, Guiness, Spaten, Pilsner, Red Stripe, and Newcastle. Any suggestions?
Side bar- Why are Macro-brews like making love in a canoe?
Cause its F'n close to water.

Originally posted by StTitoPersonally, I dislike Stella intensely, but, then again, I am a real-ale person (or, at least, I am when my wife's not looking).

My suggestions would be Deuchars, Bitter and Twister, and Fraoch. All quite light, but utterly tasty! Also, have you ever been to the czech republic? It's a beer-lovers heaven. The glasses even have space for the head!
From what I can gather, only Deuchars doesn't export to the US. The other two, however, do:

stella is advertised as being good because its expensive, this makes people who cant form an individual opinion think that it must be good or everybody else is saying its good so i will, its the emperors new clothes of beer.
still its better than drinking carling, fosters and carlsberg.
ive been drinking beer called innes and gunn, made in scotland, worth a try as its unlike any beer(lager) ive had.
Originally posted by bbarrA bar in Portland called The Know. Stella is quite hip now but we only sell it for $3 a bottle. you would be surprised what is cool in this town to drink. Wave a $2 tall boy can of PBR and the crusty punks start salivating( $1 happy hour). Thanks for the suggestions so far I might try some of those Belgium beers, always have had good luck with those.
