Re-reading this thread, I see the topic is "films", and not musicals, per se. I really, really like Singin' in the Rain (1952) and The Sound of Music (1965).

@mchill said🙂 Lee Marvin probably shouldn't either, but then that's part of what made it stand out for me. Two guys who have absolutely no business trying to sing, yet there they are, in a musical, singing.
Not a bad movie, but Eastwood shouldn't try to sing.
