@suzianne saidExactly what Hugo Chávez was saying as Venezuela was on it's way to removing 14 zeros from their currency in their currency adjustment. Bad leaders ALWAYS scapegoat industry as the effects of their expansion of currency supply leads to price increases. And sadly, there are ALWAYS plenty of ordinary citizens who will accept any excuse the regime in power offers.

Need I go on?
It's your corporate overlords, not the president.
Next will come price controls, followed by shortages.
That will be followed by a new round of scapegoating, then rationing.
That will followed by a different kind of scapegoating as they blame industries who don't sell their products at the fixed price of "hoarding".
Then comes nationalizing of private industry, giving control to political allies of the regime in power.
The subsequent failures, when allowed to continue that far let to families having to eat their pets to survive in Venezuela.

@earl-of-trumps saidYou're right....as if the Pres had anything,
y'all can argue the cost of gasoline all day long. The only thing voters will go by in November is how they f'n FEEL, and if they are p'd off enough, it won't matter at all who actually caused inflation and in particular - gasoline prices to dramatically rise, all the voters will know is, "TIME FOR A CHANGE"
book it.,
whatever to do with the price of gas.
Did you also notice that BIG OIL is posting record profits?

Nothing, AT ALL, to do with our current situation.

Oh, by the way, GENIUS,
the entire 'oil company' in Venezuela is
owned by the state so there could hardly be, 'scapegoating of industry..'

@vistesd2 saidI didn't say a hundred dollars a gallon, ya mook, I said 100 dollars for a tank of gas.
@JJ-Adams
The source for the $100/gallon story:
"The Babylon Bee is the world’s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims."

In a normal car.
Which I have paid.

@JJ-Adams
My bad. There is, however, a $100/gallon story, attributed to Biden -- which, it turns put comes from a satire site.
I just filled up today, at $4.919 per for a premium. Less than $50 -- but I drive a hybrid; get 30 mph plus per gallon. Great dependable vehicle (for the past 5 years).
Sorry I misread your post.
@vistesd2 saidLess than $50 a tank for a dinky hybrid gas/electric clown car.

I'm glad for you.
Does it have air conditioning?
So you can see how someone with a normal 4 door sedan could pay twice that, right?

not much on mileage but she could go.
Gas was 50 cents a gallon.
............Maybe, if you can't afford these pump prices,
you should get yourself a 'dinky/hybrid' too.
Or, at least, stop complaining. 😛

@jimm619 saidNever once argued in support of Nixon. In fact, my hope was that we'd remember the lessons learned by inflation in the 70s, but apparently not.

And I don't think you are using "whataboutism" correctly. If I had been defending Biden by saying "he may be kind of bad, but what about Chavez? Look how bad he is. Biden is good by comparison", that would be "whataboutism".
I'm simply trying to help Biden defenders see in whatever way is possible that accepting the regime's scapegoat on face value is not a great way to understand how the world really works. No regime ever blames itself for your problems.
As far as the voting machine goes, go argue with someone who has brought that up. I has no relevance in this discussion, but I see you have found a good red-herring to help you avoid thinking about any flaws in your own team's thinking.
Obviously my argument won't convince you, and I'm pretty sure it won't convince any other leftists on RHP. But, if inflation continues to escalate, wait and see what happens and remember what I've written here.

@jimm619 saidNot sure how old you are, but I'm old enough to remember when Venezuela was regaled as a shining success. I stand by my original assertion about 'hoarding'. I routinely interact with people living in Venezuela now and they understand they are stuck with the regime they have. Once freedom is lost, it doesn't come back easily.
