According to one Congressman, there are around 17 socialists in Congress. However, only one of them proclaims himself a socialist. There is no doubt that the governemnt is turning hard left, it is just hard to tell who all is in involved at times.

To explain this a poll was taken regarding capitalism and socialism. About 53% say they favor capitalism and only 20% proclaim socialism.
The link seems dead to me, but you omitted the most important part of the poll: how many of these people self-identified as communists. You know, actual communists who want completely to dismantle capitalism and all the institutions of liberal democracy. Actual. Communists.

The original source for this is no doubt "The Protocols of the the Elders of Zion." Of course, when I look over the list most of them didn't happen but empirical inspection is not required when you're on your knees in front of Glenn Beck. (In fact, it is strongly discouraged.)

Wasn't it Noam Chomsky who told a story about how a small group of university researchers took the U.S. Bill of Rights around the U.S. south in the early 1960s showing it to ordinary people without letting them know it was the Bill of Rights. A majority of respondents thought it was a 'communist document'.

It's highly dubious there are 17 Socialists in the Congress. Even if there were, your claim was not that there were Socialists, but actual Communists "infiltrating" "Big Business" and the "political parties".

Do you wish to retract that claim?

EDIT: this government is "hard left"? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The left has infiltrated Big Business. Just look at Goldman Sachs. They gave boat loads of money to the DNC and were the only corporation that I know who made money off of the credit crisis. In addition, they plan to make a mint once cap and trade is made law. In fact, the only large corporation allowed to go under was Lehman Brothers. Ironically, they were a big competitor of Goldman Sachs. When the feds were questioned as to why they let ONLY Lehman go under, they said that the funds were not available. However, immediatly after they went under floods of money came pouring in to "stabalize" the situation. So why wasn't this money used to save Lehman?

I think the socialists have learned from the downfall of government owning corporations using the former USSR as an example. The state simply is unable to create wealth like the private sector. So what is the next best thing? It is to create large corporations who are like small little meddlesome governments. They grow to such a degree that small business is snuffed out which is the only road to realizing the American dream. These large corporations are no longer concerned about survival, so they turn to other meddlesome ways to control the populace because they have so much time and money on their hands. In addition, the smaller the number of businesses the easier it is for government to control them. I find it ironic that during the credit crisis all money was diverted to "save" corporate America using tax payer money. Then corporate America dished out money to save states like California using taxpayer money. Meanwhile, small business, which is the engine of employment in the US employing up to 2/3 of the work force per year is left out in the cold. The relationship between big business and big brother is a very incestious one to say the least but in the end they both conspire to rob us all blind. In fact, China has learned this art as they are now using the private sector to generate wealth. Why do you think they turned to capitalism? Is it because they "like" it? No, it is because they are leaches and the leaches became hungry. Their craving for control succumbed to their craving for wealth.

You're only saying this because you are a tool for large corporations. They plant people like you everywhere to mislead the populace into believing that non-existent evil forces are plotting against their freedom. Once the people are distracted by the rivers of sewage they swoop in and steal the public treasury under the guise of providing security. It is a supremely sophisticated conspiracy that deliberately operates on many self-contradictory levels to ensure that most citizens will not figure out what is happening until the money has been safely pocketed. The best operatives for this kind of work are the ones who have so little thinking power that they do not even comprehend how they are being used. I suspect that this is behind the movement to discredit all current party leaders. They know what is going on and insist on a fair share. Better to replace them with idiots that will chase ghosts for low or no wages.

Nor as it turns out, even the most outlandish thing he will choose to write on this very thread.

Well done, whodster - I just knew you'd get around to twisting the word 'communist' all out of shape. It's firmly in the spirit of the original, to be fair, like a free-associating McCarthy. You're incorrigible.

So who payed for the credit crisis? The taxpayer. Who is going to pay for Obamacare? The taxpyaer. Who is goingo to pay for cap and trade? The taxpayer. Like it or not, big business and big government are in cohoots however you wish to frame it. My guess is that many here would blame capitalism and turn a blind eye to government other than to blame Republicans.

For some reason, despite being told on dozens of occasions that all other health care systems than the U.S. one are cheaper, you still insist that "socialized" health care will increase costs. Of course, it's always possible that "Obamacare" would be even worse than the old system, but if it was as efficient as for example the NHS, the taxpayer would see his health care bill cut by 60%.

no, you got it backwards -- Big Business has infiltrated the left -- that's what Goldman Sachs and others seek to do when they donate money to Democrats' campaigns.

Perhaps the Communists ARE plotting to overthrow America's government and economy -- with Glenn Beck being their most prized agent, and the Tea Party Movement being the main means for furthering the revolution.

Do you think the Communists would try to portray themeselves as socialists? The American people would reject quickly such a thing. But many Americans trust conservatives.

So the plot is to use people who profess to be "conservatives" to get the American people to distrust EVERYTHING and EVERYONE else BUT these "conservatives". At that point, the hypnotized masses will gleefully take their marching orders from Beck & Co without questioning them and the Grand Revolution will be underway
