Dammit, man, it's not the religion, but some of those who have tried to hide behind the religion. Religions aren't evil, but man can be.
Apply the same logic to Christianity that you do to the GOP.

You oppose the rampant history of racism from Republicans, right? Well you already know about the anti-Semitism and brutality of the Inquisition, Christians justifying slavery by using the Bible, the KKK being Christian, "whites only" churches all across America during the Civil Rights era, the fact the LARGEST base supporting Trump's racism are evangelical Christians....you know all that.

You oppose the Republican party because of their bigotry toward gays and Trans people, right? Well I don't need to tell you how the Bible commanded gays be stoned, or Jesus himself saying gays will not inherit the kingdom of God, or the history of Christians persecuting gays.

You oppose the sexism of Republicans, right? You already know what the Bible says about women submitting to their husbands "in all subjections" or obeying their husbands like Sarah, who called her husband "Lord". You already know that.

You attack Republicans for denying abortion rights, correct? And I'm sure you already know the SOLE reason Republicans oppose abortion is because the Christian base, right?

You attack Republicans for believing Trump or Fox News despite the clear lack of evidence, right? And you already know Christians have never seen or heard God, and the Bible even encourages belief over facts : "We walk by faith, not by sight". Or when Jesus told Thomas "“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” How is that much different from Trump saying "I love the uneducated"?

82% of Christians are Republican. Everything you hate about the Republican party comes from Christians. Yet somehow you're perfectly fine with attacking the party as a whole but can't do the same with the source of the Republican base, which are Christians.

Yes, "not all Christians" are evil. This is the same thing Republicans say about their own party. If the "not all" defense doesn't fly for Republicans, why should it for the Republican base, which are Christians?

If you agree with this negative perception of Republicans, why object when Christianity is criticized for the same exact reasons people oppose Christianity?

Some good points here. Of course,
there also Jewish Republicans, Republican
Atheists and, of course, Republicans that pray to TRUMP.

Not yet; planning on next August for the ND-Navy game in Dublin.

Why? Is this another "Americans can't comment on Europe" but "Euros can on the US" fallacious argument?
No, just wondering, you seems to post a lot about Ireland.

I was told as a child I was primarily of Irish descent. Supposedly my ancestors came to the US during the 1840s "Famine".

I took a DNA test a few years ago and it turns out I'm about 1/3 Irish, 1/3 Scottish and English and 1/3 other ethnic groups assuming the test is accurate.

Still, I grew up during the last period of mass resistance against English rule in Ireland (what is called "the Troubles"😉 and have always had an interest in Irish history.

Yes, The Brits, as with The US, ain't got
the best record of 'spreading democracy.'
We got KENT STATE.........Anyone held for that>?
I remember Kent State quite well.
I was young in years,
but remember the tears
and in particular... the smell.
I remember how the Guard,
shot 4 dead on the yard
and condemned themselves...to hell.
