@sleepyguy saidAre you for abolishing the States now because some people are breaking store windows?
Oh look here's some more peaceful protesters peacefully trying to just get some bread or whatever today by peacefully busting out the windows at a Seattle Amazon store. I sure wouldn't want any Federal officers to do anything about it.

That does sound like an unprecedented crisis requiring the suspending of due process rights and overriding of federalist principles embedded in our fundamental law, doesn't it?

@sleepyguy saidI can go along with that.
If only the courthouse wasn't all boarded up and under assault every night.
I think the Feds should just unboard the windows, take down the barricades, move all the Federal offices to Bend, and let the barbarians have the building as the head quarters for their new Portland autonomous zone. Let Ted Wheeler clean his own mess and all the commie Portland attorneys can start enjoying a six hour commute.
If the mayor does not want the feds in there, get them out and any damage that
is caused after that, let the mayor get his constituents to pay. Do not give
Portland one dime to help repair damages.

So, defendants should be held without a court appearance until right wingers like yourself think the "commie" threat has sufficiently abated?

Karma, huh?

@sleepyguy saidNice. So the anarchists are in there too. Rad, man!

@no1marauder saidI'm for reestablishing the lost rule of law. It's not that some people are breaking some windows. It's that thousands of people in certain enclaves are continuing to break whatever they want, and loot, and burn, and vandalize, and destroy, and threaten, and assault, and kill. And in those enclaves the people who are supposed to restore order are refusing to do so, and actually seem to want the violence to continue. That is unacceptable and I want it stopped by someone in law enforcement before an enraged public decides it's up to them.

@sleepyguy saidMost of the public doesn't see the extreme chaos that right wing rabble rousers like yourself have dreamed up. The level of violence and property damage is fairly tame compared to many similar times of urban unrest; nothing like the 1960s and nowhere near what happened in LA after Rodney King's trial.

Give it a rest, SG; we really don't need a suspension of civil liberties and the feds overriding State and local governments and sending in stormtroopers to handle some looters.

@earl-of-trumps saidAs I already showed, that isn't true; the Portland Court House had 17 cases scheduled earlier today.

@no1marauder saidIf the local govt will not defend a federal property, why should the feds not defend it and make arrests for federal crimes?

The response to the LA riots involved the National Guard, 2,000 soldiers of the 7th Infantry Division and 1,500 Marines. Should they have stood down and let the murder and mayhem continue if the LA Mayor had objected to their presence?

@sleepyguy saidThese feds are not identifying themselves nor are they reading people their rights.

@sleepyguy saidThese people ARE the enraged public. Who do you think is going to go into the cities of the Pacific Northwest to attack them?

@sleepyguy saidI don't remember little green men kidnapping people off the street in 1992. Nor did the Army and Navy kidnap people during the NY Draft riots.

@athousandyoung saidHow do you know they are not reading people their rights, ATY? Seriously.
These feds are not identifying themselves nor are they reading people their rights.
That would truly prove underhandedness, of course. I don't believe this
accusation until I can see someone substantiate that. Sorry.
