For me, to "believe" is simply to reach a conclusion, based on whatever evidence, under conditions of uncertainty. [Such as, after reading the weather report and looking outside, I say, "I believe that it's not going to rain today."]

That means that any reasonable belief is subject to testing (unless you've got another definition of belief--such as a position held in contradiciton to any evidence or reason.) After all, it might still rain...
