maybe this is part of the reason why alcoholics can end up so stuffed up. because people play around with their exposed souls.

Alcohol loosens inhibitions.
This can be a good thing, except for if you are an aggressive or violent person. Normally, social conventions would stop you from belting the hell out of a total stranger. But alcohol makes you ignore social conventions, hence the violent drunks.
I strongly believe alcohol will not make a person violent unless the have a propensity for it anyway.
I have never been violent or got into a fight whilst drunk, it's just not in my nature.
Unfortunately, it is for a lot of people. Those people should take up marijuana.
