To answer your question, many Americans talk as if America can go no wrong and Bush referred to an "axis of evil". Over 20,000 people have died since America invaded Iraq and I will continue to single out America.

The US did nothing much about Saddams crimes on his people. The excuse given at the time of the war was that he was a threat to the US and possibly tied to 9/11
I dont believe that the US started the war just for oil thought that might be one of the reasons that so many US citizens supported the war. There are many reasons why various politicians supported/instigated the war not least of which is thier involvement in arms manufaturing companies and ability to get shares in any reconstruction / supplies companies that spran up after the initial war.
The continuing instability still profits many US politicians.
There is no justification for Saddams crimes nor is there justification for the war.
I would have supported a small group of marines entering Iraq and assasinating Saddam but on the understanding that another nation will do the same to Bush now that he has proved to be little better.

I doubt your figures, but even if you are correct - who made them jihadists? Who motivated them?
If your country was invaded would volunteer to try to defend it?
