Careful! Keep talking like that and he might 'want to be starting something'!

I'm not accusing him of being a smooth criminal, but his playmates tend to be too young. Whatever happens, may he remember the time when he had more privacy.

When I think of Mr. Rogers I sort of see him as embodying the Rogerian (Carl Rogers) style of relating, that is, unconditional positive regard. Some of the examples you give like blowing the oboe, to me, are just his way of relating on the most basic level to the youngest of children. In terms of changing clothes, all I ever saw him do was put on his sneakers and a sweater. Not a pretentious man at all. I think, as RB said, he was a pastor at one time, but his calling was really in making children feel comfortable around him. He also did some pamphlets for the Lily Endowment called "Talking With Young Children About Death." In short I think he made the intimidating and complicated (parenting) very basic and understandable. I think he genuinely wanted to be a wholesome friend to kids. And I think he succeeded.
Cribs, I have no previous knowledge of this show but after looking at the link you posted I noticed that you inserted the theme tune onto Sangeeta's Friendship thread. In your opinion is Mr. Rogers showing peadophillic tendencies?
I wouldn't let my child in the same building as them! never mind let them babysit!
Perhaps give them both a hour with Charles Bronson, no not the Hollywood icon, this one resides at HMP Wakefield

since this is your area of expertise. But you only answered
one half of the question. What about the King of Pop? Do
you think he genuinely wants to be a wholesome friend
to kids?

Let's see, isolating your kid, putting a bag over his head in public, dangling him from a balcony (with face covered of course), having the moms sign their rights away, and indulging the kid in absolutely anything they want. Well, I guesss it's a good thing there are so many psychiatrists in southern California.

In this case, I would rent my kid some video games and order some pizza, because Mr Rogers was a sniper before that TV show, and Michael Jackson, UGH!!!!!! Keep em both away
Originally posted by gambit3Mr. Rogers was never a marine sniper. Nor was he ever a Navy Seal. In fact, he never served in the military at all. These stories are nothing but urban legends that gullible people like to spread around.

Fred Rogers was born in 1928 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a degree in music from Rollins College in Florida in 1951 and then went into broadcasting. He later got a bachelor of divinity and became an ordained minister in 1962.
P.S. Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) was never a marine sniper either, as a variant of the legend sometimes claims.
