EDIT: Take a look at the second article here: http://www.sandiegoeye.com/newsarchive.cfm
So far this season, Barry Bonds has the same number of home runs as I do. The reason for this is IN PART due to the fact that he is no longer doping. It is too risky now with all of the media attention.

What an idiotic statement! The season's a whole two weeks old. Do you know anything about sports and in particular baseball at all?

Gaylord Perry is a classic example. He threw a spitball for years, despite it being an illegal pitch in baseball. Plus everyone knew he threw it. Seeing if the umps could catch Perry in the act was all part of the game. And you know what? Today Gaylord Perry is in the Hall of ry. You're the greatest player of your era and no one can take that away from you.
How can you equate taking steroids with rubbing spit on your fingers before throwing a pitch? That is completely ridiculous! I suppose you advocate engineers at MIT cheating on their Mechanical Engineering tests in order to pass so they can work at NASA and build the next "explodable" space shuttle?; after all, people have been cheating in school for centuries, which makes it right, right? If Barry used "spit" in order to hit 600 ft. homers, I'd agree with you, but taking an illegal DRUG in order to bulk-up into the roidbot that he has become and hit over 700 home runs? Stand tall Barry, until your @$$ falls flat on your face!!

Steroids are not illegal drugs. Even if they were, so what?? Do you have any serious arguments or just your usual boneheaded screeching?

Talk about "boneheads", look at your avatar, counselor. Steroids are "Illegal" in sports, if not unethical, dumbass, or did you just wake up from a dream of you and Matlock, together naked, and on a deserted island?

You fantasize about gay sex in public more than Elton John. There's no talking to a demented retard like you. Could you try to go a day without mentioning nude men or homosexual activity in your posts?

That's Sir Elton John to you, colonial. And besides, George Michael would have been better.

[EDIT: Surely someone here can present the case for banning steroids in sport? C'mon, it's not that hard.]

Take away the money and the glory of it and you may have a chance establishing some sort of olympian ideal amongst elite athletes. Other than that each year some competitor is going to look at the rule book and find a loophole that although it will make their best effort "legal" it will flout every aspect of the spirit of the regulations.

One persons steroids is anothers dependence on pain medication. How many hall of famers would still stand if you retrospectively wiped every record by players who went on and played injured but under sedation. Just because the perception is that they are playing disadvantaged(medicated players would theoretically have slowed reflexes etc) they should be allowed to, at least they kept on playing and many a record has probably a component of some form legal and illegal pain control substances to thank.

I hear what you are saying, where is your proof. All I can say is that every year they find some masking agent and include that in the banned list. Which means that theoretically at least certain savvy elite sportspeople if they have the right advice can keep on avoiding detection forever as long as they have the resources to keep ahead of the testing curve.

All I know is that every year in every sport records get broken. Some people get caught. Those that do in my opinion are just unlucky. Most steroid abuse starts as a way back from injury and as athletes start seeing a better return for their effort they get hooked. The vicious circle is that no-one wants to be left behind and those that escape detection are just more conservative in when they start and end using.

Should Barry Bonds be stripped of anything. No he is an All American hero who gets the job done. If he has abused his body with steroids he will pay. And he will spend all his wealth and fame trying to regain the one thing he initially traded for it. His health.

You are of course correct, but it was late.

Go ahead and present a case for banning steroids or any drug for that matter in a country created for the primary purpose of protecting human liberty.
