NNNNNUMMMBERRRRR OOOOOONNNNNNEEEEEE!!!! An-swer ME!
As I've patiently explained about 10 times, chess engines don't enhance human play, they replace it. You may ban the Barry Bonds robot from playing and I won't complain.

How about I used a chess engine for every second move? Or I actually thought about every 10th move? That is enhancement, not replacement.

So I suggest you shut your moronic mouth regarding your attempts to read my mind.

Maybe some of my opponents will drink some coffee to stay alert; I'll be sure to report them to the TD. Idiot.
It's not the analysis that's the issue. It's the crusade that came after it.

Do you really want me to dig up some of the old classics?

No, it's not. It's a full replacement for human thought for that move.

This is off-topic, of course. I've stated the differences between the MLB situation and the situation at RHP. If most people at RHP wanted to allow engines, they would be. That doesn't seem to be true as regards baseball players or other athletes.

Dig up whatever you want. As a higher rated player, I'm more effected by engine users; I have to play them A LOT. This reduces the utility of RHP for the purposes I'm using it for. it's quite frustrating to play a complex game where you're analyzing possible variations for rather lengthy periods of time only to feed the completed game into Fritz and find your opponent's moves agree with the engine 90% or more. Such a game is practically worthless to me.

Well I'm done. It's getting a bit repetitive and frankly my head's spinning from the revelation that The Marauder Wars were in fact all about the pirate's OTB preparation being messed up by the nuances between engine and human play.

Can this be the man who wrote this?

[i]I'm not impressed with Latex Bishop's cop-out; it's his clan and his responsibility to insure that members of his clan don't reflect poorly on the rest of the clan. JW's a cheat; by using him in the clan leagues you are a cheat as well and you will be tarnishing the efforts of your clan members who are playing it fair and square. My Contumelious Clan may be a bit of a goof; but it wouldn't require a lot of handwringing and deep thought to kick someone off who is an obvious cheat like Woodley; there's a little word titled Kick; right on the clan page next to the players and my cursor would be there in a nanosecond. And I'm pretty sure that the clan leaders who have the site's respect - Tejo, Dave Tebb, Pulsatilla, Fckallie and others - wouldn't hesitate either. The players on this site can take steps to clear out the obvious cheats even if Russ is reluctant to do so for whatever reasons (legal ones probably); we are the most important aspect of the site and the reason why people join; to play us, not engines. So it's YOUR call and YOUR responsibility; do the right thing.[i]

I appeal to your advanced android ethics chip to immediately issue a full shutdown of all systems when JamesWoodley attempts to use you to select "his" moves. Since the human Woodley is obviously deficient in simple concepts like "fair play"; and "honor", it is incumbent upon you to do no harm to the human institution called Red Hot Pawn as specificed in the Laws of Robotics. If you could, we'd appreciate you running a few thousand volts through Woodley as well to discourage him from abusing both machines and humans in the future.

Fair play? Honor? What can it mean?

What part of this from 3 pages ago is toooooooooo hard for a English twit to understand:

The rules on the site are based on the stated preferences of the vast majority of users. They don't want to play engines on RHP. People who know that and choose to use an engine are not merely cheats, but inconsiderate, selfish SOBs. Understand why I don't like them?

The question was WHY people didn't want to play engines. And I was thinking about this one, from about the same place:

I don't want to play engines because I tune up at RHP to play OTB and engines don't play like humans so it would be counterproductive.

So what?? They're PERFECTLY consistent. I don't want to play engines for that reason; others might have different reasons - though in talking to higher rated players this is a fairly common reason. What part of all this are you toooooooooo stupid to understand?

Yes. Your sheer love of rules, regardless of how right or wrong they are, fully justifies your near-hysterical campaign. Thanks for clearing it up.

You're an idiot. If I didn't agree with the rule, I wouldn't care if it was enforced or not. I don't make citizen's arrests for jaywalking. The fact that people (including me) here don't want others to use engines and that wish was being blatantly disrespected to what most players (including me) feel is their detriment is why I went on my "crusade". I guess that's toooooooo hard for you to understand.
Yes, but to care so much about a rule that you only personally support for such a coldly pragmatic reason, that you feel obliged to ponficate about honour... Fair play...

You're right, I don't understand. Must be meeeeeee.
