@no1marauder saidI didn't know that. I am surprised because I heard Germany halted the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea gas pipeline project. I guess I assumed they were not accepting any fuel from them.
Not sure about others, but Germany sure is. https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20220310-germany-in-a-quandary-over-russian-energy

Do you know why they would halt the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea gas pipeline project while still accepting fuel from Russia?
@metal-brain saidProbably because Nord Stream 2 wasn't actually delivering any gas yet:

"The 750-mile pipeline was completed in September but has not yet received final certification from German regulators. Without that, natural gas cannot flow through the Baltic Sea pipeline from Russia to Germany."

@metal-brain saidAs of last week, they were:
Is Germany getting any gas from Russia?
"“Europe has deliberately exempted energy supplies from Russia from sanctions," [German Chancellor] Scholz said in a statement. "At the moment, Europe's supply of energy for heat generation, mobility, power supply and industry cannot be secured in any other way. It is therefore of essential importance for the provision of public services and the daily lives of our citizens," he added."

@no1marauder saidI can't get over this. Goldman Sachs is using a sanction loophole to sell Russian debt. When asked why the loophole was created the Biden administration said they wanted to sanction Russia, but didn't want to hurt Americans. That means wealthy Americans. He already hurt the rest of us with high gas prices.
I still can't get over that most European countries are still buying Russian oil and natural gas.

Goldman Sachs is so corrupt it is messed up.
@metal-brain saidHopefully Russia will be so skint Biden can snap up that aluminium at bargain basement prices or source it elsewhere. Or better yet develop a synthetic to replace the aluminium. “Necessity is the mother of invention”

How many times do I have to tell you EVs are not going to reduce carbon emissions? They are also too expensive and the batteries need to be replaced in 10 to 20 years and they cost about one third the cost of the whole vehicle!
Poor people cannot afford EVs, nor should they want them. Within 20 years they become a money pit.

No MB first you crush carbon energy use and the clean electricity will follow you halfwitted propagandist for coal, oil and gas.
All the time these options are abundant and relatively cheap there will never be enough clean energy available you dolt.

@Metal-Brain
You are clearly stuck in the 20th century, the only thing that will help your ICE cars is hydrogen, the production of which now is near 100% efficient so maybe H2 will take off, otherwise you are out of luck, it will be EV future.
Also about the batteries, there is a new version of a 140 year old battery that had big time problems, this is the Iron-air battery where the energy comes from turning iron into rust, which in the original version would just last so long and there would only be a box of rust and that was the end of energy production.
Newer chemistry has been shown that can reverse the rust developed by the chemical processes going on inside so the battery can be recharged hundreds of times and has about twice the energy density of Lion and uses readily available cheap materials 1/10th the cost of the lithium ion batteries of today.
You really need to keep up, looking at science websites for SCIENCE not weaponizing, you should try it sometime.
@sonhouse saidDo you know what will provide that hydrogen? Fossil fuels.
