Hey Suzianne, how are you holding up in the heat out there? I used to live in Scottsdale and we got heat for sure but it must be worse now,
We had an AC on our roof that got so hot itself we had to install a shade over it to keep it under 200 degrees.
Funny thing was, in the desert heat, the AC still pumped out a steady stream of water from the cooling.
Do you use one of those swamp coolers? They seem to help if the humidity is low.

AC is holding up. It's a Trane, possibly the best AC brand I've had. We had swamp coolers way back when we lived in Tucson. Never again. Humidity sucks. When it's this hot, humidity doesn't work as well to bring down the heat, so it just gets hot AND humid.

I see Death Valley was running 133 degrees, even your AC might fry at that temp.
Sounds like homes in Arizona will need more insulation.
Our house was near the Los Arcos mall, I think it is defunct now, near hole in the wall, and one time I tried to get a wire or something in the attic and stuck my arm into the insulation and it turned out to be some 2 feet thick! Maybe homes there will need 4 feet of insulation or more effective types like hydrogel or vacuum insulation, they make vacuum panels, a couple of sheets of material capable of holding back a vacuum, maybe with thin pegs to keep the plates separated but that kind of technology is what the ISS uses, where hot water stays hot for weeks on end.
It might take that kind of serious tech to ameliorate the situation.
I remember riding my bike to work, I worked ATT at General Instrument, and if it was only 105 out I wasn't that hot, but 110 definitely felt hot riding around. Don't think I could ride in Death Valley at 130 plus though. 105 is only about 7 odd degrees higher than body temp and the wind helped through off the heat when riding.
The sad part for use when we lived there was the star of our family Darchelle, lost her live on her beloved Harley, a women in a big caddy turned with no signal right in front of her and Darcy died instantly. I don't ride anymore. She had an IQ of 170 and could have been anything she wanted.
