@suzianne saidFurther to this........
I'd say that Trump cutting our forces down to 2,500 and then releasing 5,000 Taliban members (one of whom was the bomber himself, released from Bagram before the pullout) had a bit to do with that.
Trump issued the directive for the troop reduction on Nov 17, 2 weeks after the election.
This is a period when when the administration should be in transition mode, effectively managing the issues at hand.
Usually the most directives that should be coming out of the administration should be more administrative in nature.
Things like pardons. They usually give the media something to chew on.
A major policy directive of the order of troop management in Afghanistan should be left to the incoming administration, or at the very worst with the new administration heavily involved in the policy decision.
I've offered my opinion on the troop drawdown before and I will offer it again.
Trump's directive for the troop reduction in Afghanistan was a blatant attempt to throw the new administration under the bus.
In fact there was virtually no transition between Trump and Biden.
Trump was completely AWOL during the worst period of the pandemic.
And he spent most of his time in the courts and leaning on state governments trying to overturn an election he LOST !!!

@mott-the-hoople saidYeah, he cooked it up in the White House all by himself.
lets just forget Trump brought us the vaccine in RECORD TIME.
Tell me, how much government money did the first company to make the vaccine in the US, Pfizer, receive?
Funny answer:
"The truth is that Pfizer didn’t receive any funding from Operation Warp Speed for the development, clinical trial and manufacturing of the vaccine. " https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-09/pfizer-vaccine-s-funding-came-from-berlin-not-washington

@mott-the-hoople saidThat vaccine would have been developed in record time irregardless of who was in the White House.
lets just forget Trump brought us the vaccine in RECORD TIME.
Do you really think the pharmaceutical companies would have been sitting on their hands if another President was in the White House ?
Are you that daft ???
Oh !! And btw..... The vaccine breakthrough was made in Germany !!
BioNTech partnering with Pfizer made the research breakthrough in Mainz, Germany.
I can just imagine the German scientists saying "we couldn't have done this without Trump".
🤣🤣🤣🤣

@mott-the-hoople saidWhy don't you figure that out for yourself.

@mghrn55 saidconsidering every other vaccine took five years yeah I think Trump did a hell of a job, now with biden and company lying so much no one feels it is safe.

@mott-the-hoople saidThat had nothing to do with development of the vaccine:
pfizer got 1.95 billion

"That nearly $2 billion contract will pay for 100 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine at a price of $19.50 per dose if the vaccine is OK'd by the Food and Drug Administration. "
