2 small points on the issue, i don't watch the show (at least, not this one)
1. I take offence at the thought that three slappers on a TV show could be construed as in any way echoing the views of the Brittish people. As a Brittish person myself i think that these three are the lowest common dinominator, and deserve a good slapping.
2. After working with Chinese, Africans (Nigerians, Zimbabwians, and South Africans of all three coloured groups),Irish, eastern Europeans of various groupings, and Pakistanis, i have come to realise that racism is part of who we are as human beings. Everyone is party to it, everyone has a tendency towards it at some point in their life, and every group i have mentioned without exception has made what can be thought of as racist comments in my presence. This is a pile of pissflaps riled up by the media.

I think Big Brother UK would be more interesting if they gave one of the characters a knife.
Contestant on a Big Brother type programme is murdered - the detective works out whodunnit (and whydunnit and howdunnit). The producers of the programme love the publicity ...
Life imitates art!

I never said all the city is a lads culture, but you must realise that a part is. The drinking session, the lap dancing clubs, the coke..come on man..you know the score or do you just go home on a friday night ?
Have you never been to Agenda or Abacus for example ?
Also, as I mentioned its not just Jade, its the others too, the point that I was trying ...[text shortened]... at creats a negative image for the whole of the UK from her ignorance and bigoted point off view
Sure that's a part of the city and I'm all for the booze and the titty
bars (can't stand coke heads though).
I don't go to clubs sorry (coke thing again), I prefer a mad dash
on wheels through the centre of London www.lfns.co.uk followed by
a piss up on wheels and a wobbly skate home. Perfik.
You sound like a genuine guy, why are you hanging with these
bigoted powder monkeys? Are you in sales?
You're right that the real racists are the girls and Jermaine who are
spurring these two on, unfortunate that the spotlight hasn't fallen on
them but that's television for you.

Maybe I was not clear. In my current role, the people are great and I don't have to deal with stuff like that. I work in insurance
In past roles I have had to deal with a lot, but I take it on the chin, to me its part of reality. What does not kill you makes you stronger
Its interesting that some of them are starting to lose contracts, for example Ms ex-uk (i sleep with the judges but thats got nothing to do with winning the title) has lost her insurance promotions contract.

Aren't many of their operations based in India? As a telecoms company, I doubt they'll be trying to sponser BB any time soon.

They probably realised the call centre impact

Let's take for an instance that Shilpa is being conceited, smug
and manipulative. Does it mean that because she is Indian,
people aren't allowed to pick on her?
For me racism is a manifestation of a persons own fears.
I think Shilpa was s**t out of luck when she played that card
with Goodie. She was quite happy to cry 'wolf' though and take the Goodie's to the cleaners.
Huckleberry is right, racism is part of us all and you are right when
you enjoy the company of those that deal with it head on and modestly.
So who is really stirring the race row in the house? Jade or Shilpa?
I believe that racism is only racism if that was the intent. For example, when Jade referred Shilpa to be Shilpa Papadum. That isn't racism, it just shows sheer ignorance on Jade's part. One of the very few things that Jade knows about India are Papadums, hence what the blurted out was what she associated with India. This was even illustrated when she talked about it that she wasn't able to remember her surname (although I can't imagine how Shetty could be that hard to remember or pronounce). Therefore what naturally came out of her head was whatever she thought was "Indian".
If anyone who knows a lot more about Indian culture was to refer Shilpa as Shilpa Papadum, that would certainly be racist, as this will be obviously the intent.

I don't believe it to be Jade or Shilpa's fault. They are from vastly different backgrounds and wouldn't be able to get on.

hate, it's indifference.
I think they were getting on fine and learning a lot from each other
until the other goons in the house wanted their share.
Originally posted by lauseyTrue to a degree, but then again Jade has been in the house before....so should really know better......but she is not the sharpest pencil in the box...so I suppose its to be expected.

Plus all the media attention is focused on her, when in reality the other girls / guys are equaly acting incorrectly. Some off the comments that have come across do appear to show negative intent.
I think that the producers have gone a bit too far now. Tonights the eviction night, so lets see what happens
