What a morning here in sunny Java. I've got both genralissimo and zeeblebot making absolute ninnies of themselves for all to see. Another sip of my coffee. Perhaps a smear of Marmite on my toast. And down to work. Life is good. Must be doing something right.

Not interested.

I've read a book. And, something I very rarely do, I am recommending it because it is good. Mostly because if its angle, but also because of its intellectual honesty - something that can exist at various places on the spectrum.

My sympathy and respect for Bush was increased by reading this book. It has converted him into much more of a 3-D figure. Several sycophantic right wing books had the opposite effect, ironically. Excellent book. The "tragedy" also encompasses his "one term" father and his now-he'll-never-be-the-president brother. Never come across such a grown up, balanced bit of delving into cause and effect in the political sphere, from a biographical angle. Totally intriguing.

I am not going to surf the internet to find out what the book I read was like!

As I said before, life's too good - and too short. But to have you squirming on my dufus hook this morning makes the moments precious.

One star:
Misbegotten effort, February 14, 2008
By Gravitas (Illinois) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Bush Tragedy (Hardcover)
Amazing how the other reviewers have swallowed this misgbegotten effort hook, line, and sinker. For starters, long-distance psychoanalysis of anyone is a form of malpractice, incapable of producing any but the most fanciful results. Any sensible reader should know enough to be on guard from page one. Secondly, the claim of "no political agenda" is patently ridiculous, as the author's assessments of the key figures in this story(Rove, Cheney, Rice, etc.)are in every case the standard liberal caricatures, as is his overall view that Bush has been a failure. It will be years before any assessment of his success can be definitively rendered, and the final judgement will be hightly dependent on how the Middle East is transformed (or not) in the next half century. Those whose minds are already made up and firmly closed on these issues will no doubt find congenial speculations here, but let's not mistake this book for anything other than one more political hit job. (Of which there is far from a shortage.) If that's your cup of tea, you'll no doubt savor "The Bush Tragedy."

Wow. You found some one-star reviews on Amazon? Gosh! You've really got this internet thing well and truly sussed.

Don't trust my recommendation? Fine. Don't read the book. But cutting and pasting from web sites to justify not reading the book is making you a laughing stock, I reckon.

I've read heaps of right wing books. Normally on a recommendation from a friend whose political persuasion does not coincide with mine. Or perhaps from a 'lefty' friend who found a right wing book thought provoking or fascinating.

"The Bush Tragedy" is thought provoking or fascinating. Sorry I have no wikipedia or amazon link to back this up. LOL!!

Dangle, dangle, zeeblebot.

I've got you on my dufus hook this morning!
