#1 Contributer to the federal government via taxes, for one thing. #1 GSP. We have the #1 port in the western hemisphere too.
As for myself, I would be proud if my state were dead last in giving the federal government revenue, however, I am a little jealous about the whole #1 port thing going on there.

I know conservatives like money, but at the cost of your honor?
I suppose some states manage to find the balance, but we're supporting some of the others. The closer you are to that balance the closer you are to accepting welfare.
And, of course, someone has to buy tanks and stuff. We are at war y'know.

I am in no way implying that I like welfare or like the fact that certain segments of the population are carrying the bulk of the burden for welfare.

In short, the federal government does not need any more money, rather, it needs reform. I am sick to death of liberals saying it needs more revenue when what it really needs is reform. Ironically, you don't even hear Repulicans talking about reform, only tax cuts.
Originally posted by whodeyThat's true; if you look at the statistics you can see Washington has by FAR the worst ratio of federal money in/out. But even ignoring that, lots of other states are in the red, e.g. Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska...
