That's kind of condescendingly obnoxious, but you may have something there. I'll make a thread on it. Let's see if we can get the literalists to join the debate.
Hey, tongue and cheek from some one who has quite a few for relatives or old family friends. Believe me, I'm not so far off.

And yes there is generally much disagreement over the Patriot Act in the the far right xtian camp.

This is kind of an unimportant topic most of the time by the way. It's almost like talking about which flavor of ice cream is better.
You never said the topic *had* to be important, and there are many hundreds of thousands in the Uk alone that would disagree with you on the relative importance of football.

Not all football debate need be about which side is better - i.e. my team is better than yours.

Try 'Chelsea's ability to spend Millions buying up all the best talent is ruining the Premiership as a contest - discuss' for an obvious starter.

No, I didn't say that. I'll accept that different Christian literalists may have different opinions about soccer issues.

What about issues with more depth and importance? And I don't care what people in the UK say, soccer is pretty insignificant!

You would be a brave man to put forward that view in a UK pub 🙂

No - I don't think issues with more depth and importance could be debated without christian polarization.

History records that we were once (and maybe still are in some ways) under rule of the religous leaders, and as such anything of such depth that it requires the view of the ruling groups will draw in the religously weighted opinion.

I hope that makes sense - it is early I have not quite woken up yet.

You know, something that is interesting is that when the U.S. was still in it's infancy there was a lot of prejudice against Catholics. Why? Because it was feared that due to their organized nature, with a chain of command that goes all the way up to one supreme leader (it's almost militaristic), they might take over the U.S. politically and the President would become a puppet of the Pope.

Interesting how the Protestant fundamentalists today have a lot of the same qualities that people feared the Catholics had regarding religion and politics, no?
