@averagejoe1 saidYes, I believe every person deserves health care. If you are impoverished does that mean you get no fire department service or police protection or public education? I think not. I also think it is outrageous that prescription drugs have risen to the point where some cannot afford to live.
All of the above bespeaks Socialism. I don’t agree with the tenets of Socialism. Y’all all get in that bed with Bernie. Creepy.
I’ll thank you to let me teach my children to be independent and make good choices. You tell your kids about govt.
You know, Bernie often says every person (he does not say citizen) deserves healthcare. You too are saying that.
They absolutely do not.
Because we have government run public services such as police, fire, military, research, schools including public colleges and universities, Social Security and Medicare we are already a social democracy. By the way, workers pay into Social Security and Medicare. It is not a government handout.

@phranny saidEveryone in the US does get healthcare. Poor people qualify for medicaid. Others are expected to pay themselves.

@averagejoe1 saidYou have no idea what the tenets of socialism are?
That’s all over, easy to find. MSNBC, Bernie, the aoc person. A lot of connecting up, as far as I can tell.
@quackquack saidAnd pay, and pay, and pay, and pay, and pay.
Everyone in the US does get healthcare. Poor people qualify for medicaid. Others are expected to pay themselves.
@phranny saidYou are saying that in addition to paying into Social Security and Medicare, that there should be a third item, which is healthcare for all. I would think that is for another thread. (I can’t wait to see how that would be threshed out as to who gets work from whom).

Anyway the only point I was making, is that Bernie says that everyone deserves healthcare right now. That is a falsehood. Y’all should be careful defending Bernie’s promises and statements .
@averagejoe1 saidA statement that "everyone (or anyone) deserves X" cannot be a "falsehood" as it is a personal value judgment.

People who buy it, like an insurance policy on your car or house, or people who qualify under government programs.
Who does deserve healthcare?

You think those 2 groups are the people who deserve healthcare?
People with money.
People who qualify under government programs.
What makes either of those groups more
deserving than those who do not deserve healthcare?
@averagejoe1 saidNor nuclear weapons and microwave ovens.
Further, there is nothing in the Constitution about healthcare.
@no1marauder saidThen I stand corrected, EXCEPT that I am QUOTING Bernie stating it as a fact!
A statement that "everyone (or anyone) deserves X" cannot be a "falsehood" as it is a personal value judgment.
@wolfgang59 saidUhhhh. Capitalism? Because, the only way to make us all equal (you, me; congressmen, preachers. bus boys, the President, ) and have the government cover our insurance would be to have government take over our healthcare, which is Socialism. Are you for real?
