You said that the democrats would be veto-ed if they sent any bill up to Bush to get out of Iraq or decrease funding....... I say they should send it to him so he has to veto it...

I mean I don't know what the right answer is now for the war, I do know that we should have never gone in the first place.
The alleged goal of compromise for the democrats was to establish mandatory benchmarks of progress in the war, but apparently they have compromised down to "optional" benchmarks, which will without a doubt be ignored by W.

They are irresponsible cowards.
Maybe the dems have demonstrated themselves as cowards, but that is rivaled by the stubborn nature of the republicans.

I would love to see your poll for this claim...

Edit: Since I just now read your post on page two, I still don't believe that a good proportion of the American population would answer "yes" when asked "Do you think the war in Iraq is a legitimate war on terrorism?" even if they did support W.

Ok. Does it matter a lot to you to always be "in the majority"? It matters not in the least to me.

I have never thought that just because the entire village decides to burn a witch that it is good to be a witch hunter. I would as soon perish in the fire trying to convince the majority that they are foolish.

I am not a good "team player" though. Recently a guy on a big software project accused me of that. I responded... "You are wrong. I love a good team. But my idea of a team is forty four guys jumping to obey me instantly every time I say boo." He kind of spit and sputtered and formed a team. I wrote the app and deployed it during their first meeting. Then asked if was what they wanted. I got no response, but I checked with terminal manager today on seven citrix servers and noticed that is is being used by over 450 people at any one moment today. I never saw anything of the app designed by the "team". Maybe it is still being "studied"???

Well, it has probably been said already, but wars cost money, and Congress has the power of the purse; so, if the Democrats were anything but spineless pussies they would simply cut off funding for the war. If "The Decider" keeps the soldiers in Iraq after that, the resultant deaths will be entirely on his head.

But the U.S. Empire is wholly responsible for the destruction and misery it has visited upon the Iraqi people, so the U.S. Empire should bankroll a U.N. peacekeeping mission in Iraq (NOT under U.S. control) for the years or decades it will take to put the country back together again. Once again kids, what have we learned? Violence solves very little, if anything. But then, an empire that lives by the sword will surely someday die by the sword.

I wonder what the UN would spend all that new found money on?

I never said being a member of a minority was incorrect. Trust me, where I live, my opinions are definitely in the minority.

I was saying nothing more than what I believed: unless you present a poll to prove me wrong, I do not think the majority of Americans would support the "war on terrorism." I'm not blaming the minority, I'm simply assuming what comprises it.

I never used the term "majority" in any way. I then estimated that number at about 31%

You never pay attention. Try to read more carefully.

Well excuse me. I made a mistake. Feel better?

BTW -- I specified "a good proportion" in my original post, just not in my second post.

🙂

To err is human; to forgive divine.

So as a mighty god to a peon, you are forgiven. Go and sin no more.

Just kiddin. I make more than my share of mistakes, and one of the best feelings in the world is to apologize. One of the second best feelings is to gloat. The third best feeling is to show self-restraint.

I'm kind of conflicted from all this compartmentalization. Sheesh! You're fine! How am I???😕
