@eladar saidThat every single scientist, every single country and half the people in his own party all think he’s stupid, a narcissist, a liar and continually wrong.
We entered the war to fight Japan, which was on Hitler's side.
But let's assume your parallel has merit, where does Trump fit in this scenario?
And with so many people from all walks of life in so many countries witnessing his behaviour daily and all coming to the same conclusion... it’s very likely trump and his supporters are wrong.
Just look at his supporters at his rallies (mass political rallies... unbelievable as it is) and demonstrating against lockdowns... just look at them!
Waving their little flags, waving their antiquated constitutions, carrying guns and oozing complete moronity. Just look at them.
trump is caught lying continually. On camera. Being proven wrong, day after day. And then lying about it.
The whole world sees this day in, day out.
I enjoy it. I love watching train wrecks in action.
But most people see it and feel sorry for you.
Yet his supporters don’t.
Why not? Why can’t they see the glaringly obvious?
I know why. Do you?

Does every single scientist support global warming? Just because you were raised in a Hitler youth style society where everyone is trained to believe the same thing, that does not mean the rest of the world has no freedom of thought.
@eladar said97% of scientists agree that global warming is a thing and that humans play their part in it.
Every single scientist? Or just the ones you believe?

So yeah.
As for being raised in a Hitler Youth environment... Jesus, you really don’t know Europe, do you?
Look. If 3% of all scientists disagree with a majority of scientists from all walks of life, backgrounds and countries, why do you believe the 3% over the 97%?
Because you are brainwashed with a message to fear that which differs; to fear that which needs changing.
That fear is instilled so that the people who make money off you and the producing folks can keep exploiting you. That’s capitalism.
However, they’ve done it so effectively that it spills over into a child-like need for structure, repetition and the security of a non-changing environment. The knowledge that what is today will be the same tomorrow.
And everything which does not fit that picture is to be feared and loathed.
I joke about stupid Americans and I’m nasty about it, but the truth is I should actually be intervening on the emotional level, rather than arguing facts and sarcastically pointing out the blatantly obvious.
You see, your beliefs, that the corona pandemic isn’t bad, that global warming doesn’t exist, that Iran is evil, that a proper health system derives you of freedom, aren’t based on facts.
They are based on emotions: fear that what is correct today, might not be correct tomorrow.
So I can argue facts until the cows come home, that will never change your opinions. What I need to do is connect with you on an emotional level and help you to see what influences your judgment, so that you learn to choose which influences are beneficial to you and which are actually impairing you.
Why don’t I?
Because I’m a nasty fukker and life would be less funny without people like you in it.

Get over yourself and your brainwashing. You are an ignorant stooge.
@shavixmir saidThe truth? You mean your truth that there is no snow on Kilimanjaro?
Don’t like the truth, do you?
In other words your truth is what your government wants you to believe.

@eladar saidWe are all free to think and believe whatever we want to believe, but why wouldn't we anchor that belief in a shared and validated wisdom?
Every single scientist? Or just the ones you believe?

@eladar saidLet's say that I wanted to know the meaning of a word in Ancient Greek, and asked one hundred professors of classics. Let's say 97 of them gave me one translation, and three of them gave me another translation. I think I could reasonably assume that the 97 were more likely to be right than the three outliers.

However, what I certainly could not do is come up with my own translation, because I don't read Greek.
The only people who can speak with authority about climate change are climate scientists. They have the relevant knowledge and training to make a judgement call. It's inevitably the case that there are disagreements among experts, since no one has access to all the evidence and the number of variables are enormous. That means, of course, that anyone who isn't scientifically trained has no basis for making their own judgement. None whatsoever. Your opinion or my opinion is worth nothing. The opinions of trained experts are all that matters here.
