This specimen of repartee shows what happens when the mind becomes deranged through believing in communism.

The only difference is that the commies are more ruthless in their methods of acquiring it.

You watched a documentary on the USSR and that's about it. Isn't it?

I got that out of a dictionary. Sounds like a miserable idea, what's the appeal? Why would anybody think that it would be a good thing? It's not even remotely possible to put into practice anyway. Just a dreadful, moronic concept.

I was in Czecho-Slovakia during the commie takeover, and previously
had contact with the Hungarian coal miners who escaped from commie oppression and came to work in the UK.
I doubt that you have had personal experience of communism but like Redmike merely indulge in pipe-dreams; the refuge of the inadequate.
I am Scottish.
I am proud of my country, and the decisions of our little Assembly/Government. The Police force are currently requesting a Judicial revue into their pay agreements because The pay rise which was given to them at the new year, was supposed to be back dated to September last. The difference in money was no more that a couple of hundred pounds sterling, but the UK government who have told us that we should expect more terrorism as a matter aof "when not if", decided to streamline at the cost of police morale. All of the UK, that is, except For Scotland which payed the backdated monies.
We may not have a big country like China, or a booming economy like......welll, China.....but we are a proud little nation that has an intelligent government, not scared to make decisions that help the people. If you do not agree with the policies, or the decisions our country make....We don't care, so kindly shove it up your anal passage and, shut the door on the way out.

"You must be one of those, My Country-Right or Wrong Nuts"
"Are you saying pride in your country should be unconditional?"
"Anyways, patriotism is sooooo 80's."
Originally posted by BogleI would like to give you this observance. I never believe fellows who profess their devotion to socialism or communism, no matter how loud they voice their love. If they answer honestly, they always agree with this.
The former was the inevitable outcome of the latter in practice.
Those who find merit in socialism for government, business, services, etc., in other words, bodies that hold some level of control over them, always practice laissez-faire capitalism in their personal, every-day and common place activities which they themselves control.
Rubbish, say you? Then let me present two examples of many I could proffer;
Have you ever been offered a rise in salary by your employer and replied, “no thank you sir” I am able to afford my flat, dine on a tasty mixed grill and afford a pint or two. Please give that increase to one of your employees who earns less than I?
Have you ever set forth to engage a painter to refresh your flats’ decor and employed the one who quoted the higher rate, not because he had better references but because he appeared more needful?

Nowhere in socialism does it say you shouldn't look out for yourself. And nowhere does it state that you should behave out of pity.
What socialism does say is that a boss shouldn't earn money out of your labour.
And it says that a State should protect its citizens, from crime, disease and suffering.
Nowhere does it state in socialism that you can't own a house or a car or clothing.
What socialism does say is that nobody can own something at the expense of others. This refers to land lords (everyone has the right to a house), land owners who have more land than they need and won't let unemployed farmers farm it, etc. It's not on about your star wars doll collection.
Nowhere does it state in socialism that a State has to protect you from yourself. What you produce is yours. You have an equal say in distribution and the State does not fulfil the role of multi-national.

It's forever amusing how rationalism (Ayn Rand laissez faireism if you will) says you have the right to freedom and property, but you don't have the right not to be exploited. Or health.
I wonder what's more important to people? Good health or a fence? An unexploited existence... or a spare bicycle tire?
