@athousandyoung saidNuclear weapons is the main thing that seperates the actions of the US from the actions of Lichtenstein.
TLDR: Why does USA get Monroe Doctrine but Russia doesn’t get Ukraine? Why are Russia’s security concerns taken more seriously by some people than Ukraine’s security concerns? Is it simply USA>Russia>Ukraine and we should just accept it?
Putin not long ago criticized the USA using the old Roman phrase “Quod Licet Jovi, Non Licet Bovi” which translates to “What Jupit ...[text shortened]... an reasonably demand from the international community? Is it might makes right, money rules or…what?
The size of an army is a second.
And a very close third is the power of economic sanctions that can be thrown into the mix.
When the USSR fell, US capitalists thought they’d just march in and make it a capitalist power-house for their own little benefits.
Alas, Russia is the bear and heeds only their own little bastards… and the oligarchs took over and the US capitalists had to settle for scraps.
So, instead of hating communism, the capitalist West now hated Russia.
Hence the stance by the West to take down the bear by proxy. The ever-hope to bring Russia to its knee, so the capitalists can move in and set things up to their own liking.
For all the grand posturing of morality by the West, the reality is two-fold:
- this isn’t about lives… it’s about the rich getting richer.
- China and India are not taking an anti-Russian side on this issue. And should the bear drop to its knees, it’s these two countries who will benefit, not the capitalist West.

@athousandyoung saidIt doesn't.
TLDR: Why does USA get Monroe Doctrine
Goodbye, and go back to the slums of Cocaine Gang City.

@shallow-blue saidDon’t be jealous that the Los Angeles/San Pedro port complex handles more trade than yours. You think you’re so fancy being the biggest port in Europe but we are bigger!

@athousandyoung saidThat's not what your original question was about, and your mentioning it just demonstrates how small your testicles are.

By the way, Shanghai is quite a bit larger still. Than both of us. So just pipe down, would-be gringo-boy.
@shallow-blue saidYou should take that stick out your butt before it punctures your sea monkey brain.

Both, obviously. Welcome to Earth.
Do you consider relevant the idea that Moldova and the United States of America get to have the same level of influence on world affairs?

@sh76 saidDo you support the Ukraine intervention? If so is Putin right - the West is intervening simply to dominate Russia? Because we clearly aren’t restraining ourselves despite Russian power.

@athousandyoung saidThe West is intervening to contain Russia or more precisely curtail Putins expansionist policies toward Eastern Europe which includes countries in the oft confusing term “The West”

It is Putins drive to the western Ukrainian border that is going to bring Russia and NATO smack bang up against each other. The main reason that Ukraine was never going to gain NATO membership was because NATO prefers a neutral buffer between itself and the Russian federation.
All Russia has to do is live peacefully within its borders and invest its oil and gas money in modernising and industrialising it’s economy for the non carbon future. It has a nuclear arsenal to ensure its not going to be molested by anyone but it has chosen to be an aggressive authoritarian one trick oligarchical economy that will constantly be threatening its smaller neighbours and rattling its nuclear option in NATOs direction as if it wasn’t aware of it already.

@athousandyoung saidThe West is intervening because the Russian invasion of Ukraine is evil aggression. If we invaded Mexico for no reason other than to enforce the Monroe Doctrine, it would also be evil, but we haven't. This is not really that complicated.

@sh76 saidIt seems you just did a sharp 180 from “might and money make right” to “stopping evil aggression”.

@athousandyoung saidNot at all. Both things can be true:
It seems you just did a sharp 180 from “might and money make right” to “stopping evil aggression”.
1. Countries' political strength is based on the strength of their economies and militaries
2. Some things are evil
We have more influence on world affairs than Moldova because we're much bigger and stronger than they are.
The West is justified in supporting Ukraine because the Russian invasion was criminal aggressive war.
Why do those two things contradict each other?
