Parmalat springs to mind.

It's in receivership at the moment. I don't know the difference between Chapter 11 in the US and in Italy, but I've the impression that the receivership laws in Europe are much stricter than in the US. Though I agree that Chapter 11 laws have been abused by many US companies (airlines, for instance), mainly by shedding their pension liabilities. Wait until GM goes into Chapter 11 in the next year, you'll see some fireworks!

You poor thing, Every company is supposed to make money, a comapany try to make the most money it can, I own 25% of a construction business, and when lumber prices go up, so does our final labor prices, we dont give our customer a break when lumber goes up. We dont live in China, everyone got the right to make as much money as they can. I think I feel jealusly here, because they are getting your money, well why dont you start a gas company? oh I guess its to much work.

Oil is on the way out anyway. Mercedes and BMW have both designed cars that run on water and can hit top speeds of over 300kmh. Whats more is that it will be affordable in the near future.

What a ridiculous argument?

Yes, companies should make a profit. But not when the oil prices are crippling the whole globe and when wars have been started just to make this profit.

There is a slight difference between a construction company and a non re-newable resource which drives the entire world economy. People are starving because it costs too much to get food to them.

The ignorance of some people astound me...

Please give us an example of how oil prices are crippling the globe. Even with higher prices, the global economy is still running. This isn't the oil shock stagflation of the 70s revisted....

Also, what point are you trying to make when you say that people are starving? That since oil prices are more expensive, the transport cost is more expensive and now less food is delivered? That's hardly the fault of the oil companies since the price of a barrel of crude oil is dictated by the stock market (and to a large extent OPEC) and not by the the companies themselves.

I agree with DOlivier2004, They are not crippling the world, in fact they are helping it, because now people are looking for new ways to replace things,

Do you actually think that the oil companys should report a loss? Like I said, no one creats a bussiness to lose money,

You say people are starving because they cant afford to buy gas? well maybe the automobile industry should cut the prices of their cars in half, it would help the starving be able to buy a vehichle to get food. The Grocerie Store should reduce food prices. see it just dont work that way, If you was gonna start a gas company, would you give away free gas just because you think the prices are high? or would you try to stay in bussiness and make a little extra mony for when the bad times come. your argument is ridiculous. You should try China, I think they regulate how much money a person makes

Easily half the people I know are unemployed and can't get a job including me. Apparently trickle down economics ISNT WORKING. This pisses me off. The rich guys are getting richer and I am having tremendous difficulty getting the opportunity to work for a living.

Notice how the Bushes have been deeply entrenched as rich guys in the oil business for over 50 years.

So you are trying to say that the oil companies have no say in how much they sell their oil? How old are you? 15?

I'll agree that im pleased people are finding alternative ways to transport thus reducing emissions and hopefully making Americans less fat, but does no one see the irony in oil companies recording thier highest ever profit when fuel prices have been the highest ever? It just plain capitalism!

And i quote;

"You say people are starving because they cant afford to buy gas? well maybe the automobile industry should cut the prices of their cars in half, it would help the starving be able to buy a vehichle to get food"

This would have to be the stupidest argument i have heard. Im talking about transport costs Billy Bob. As in food being able to be transported to third world countries. My God, are you so oblivious to the fact that there are actually poor nations out there? Stop watching TV and read a book.

And you said; "The Grocerie Store should reduce food prices"

Yeah, because a grocery store makes billions and billions of dollars.

With power comes responsibility. And honestly, are you happy paying higher prices for petrol? Yeah, i bet you're over the moon about it.

You sir, are the one with the ridiculous argument.
