@no1marauder saidOh my poor neo-liberal Democrat brother .
There's zero chance of it passing a Republican Senate. And there are things that are absolutely essential to get passed now where compromise might work.
That's reality, no matter what foul mouthed screechers on YouTube say.
The point is to identify the corporate Dems who need to be targeted for primary challenges by Progressives . Since it is a fact that the majority of Americans support Medicare for All , but corporate Dems have sold out to Healthcare Corps and Big Pharma and deny Americans the healthcare they have a right to have . Of course the deaths of over 60,000 Americans every year due to lack of healthcare is secondary to the agenda that neo-liberal Dems are trying to create . I guess it is just fine and dandy as long as it is not you or your family dying . How compassionate of you , lol.
I am certain that you know that Medicare for All will lower healthcare cost by over $400 billion a year and you would rather see insurance companies and Big Pharma get that money instead .
Maybe you could start a thread condemning the abolitionists for their monumental waste of time that all those abolitionists engaged in the 1850's for trying to end slavery "since it had zero chance of it passing " .
That nonsense that there are more important things than addressing the healthcare situation in the US is a decades old and oft repeated lie .
That is reality , no matter what corporate neo-liberal Dems say .

You know, one thing that bothers me about the supplement issue, like AARP and the like: We get medicare, wife and I, for about 180 ish bucks a month each, so 360 a month or so.
But she has AARP which also costs about 180 a month.
Thing is, Medicare pays for 80 % and yet the other 20% costs the same price.
Why isn't it say even HALF the medicare bill? Even THAT would be several times the price of medicare pound for pound.
What is going on there and why is there no cheaper versions? I got medicare advantage, with zero copay but if I go to hospital, I have to fork out seven hundred bucks up front.
I got that because I am in excellent health and it is a bet I made, I won't NEED hospitalization. That has worked for the past year so I have saved some 2000 bucks over my wife's AARP supplement, which means even if I have to fork over 700 bucks for a hospital visit I am still up over a thousand bucks from my wife's supplement.
But why is there no real competition for the same bennies as my wife has with AARP which is the same price for the last 20% as the 80% Medicare covers.
It seems to me if there is a 100% medicare, it should only cost 20% more give or take over what we have now.
The numbers just don't add up as they are.
I guess they add up JUST FINE for AARP and all the rest you see advertised on TV.
@caissad4 saidI'm not even going to respond to a poster ignorant enough to call me a "neo-liberal".

Anybody who’s not earning 150 grand a year or more who doesn’t support a proper health service which supports everyone, is a right-wing sack of stupid.
It’s all very well not wanting to pay for others. But when you have to sell your house to pay for long term treatment, you’ll suffer like the rest of the maggots.
Seriously! That you have politicians not wanting it (or wanting to get rid of it) to fill the pockets of their friends and get a job on the board of executives at a later moment is one thing.
But average, working people opposing it is just plain moronity.
It proves that advertising and constant repetition does brainwash. There’s no other option.
Turkeys don’t vote for Xmas and no other mammal than humans defecate in their own bed.
It’s so basic: food, housing, water, electricity, education and healthcare.
Sort it out. Beyond that, discuss your petty capitalism vs state ownership all you want.
But you need to have the basics sorted out.
It’s bloody 2020, god damn it.
Get with the picture or leave the bloody cinema!
@sonhouse saidHealthcare in the US is a for-profit business.

@no1marauder saidToo bad . I was looking forward to an intelligent discussion with you about this .
I'm not even going to respond to a poster ignorant enough to call me a "neo-liberal".
Your choice .
@caissad4 said"Intelligent discussions" don't start with purposefully insulting mischaracterizations of other's political positions. Mine are no mystery on this board nor have they been for more than 16 years. In no way could they ever be honestly described as "neo-liberal".

If the ultimate goal is to wrest political power inside the Democratic party, perhaps the advice of someone who toppled one of the most powerful neo-liberal members (that would be AOC) might be a bit more relevant than the ranting of a You Tube comedian.
@caissad4 saidYou can't do this with a Republican controlled senate, it defeats the point.

You will most definitely get corporate democrats voting yes just because they would know it can't pass the senate anyway, and then it will muddy the waters. At most you would be able to point to that person's hypocrisy when at a second vote they will vote no. And that person will laugh to your face all the way to the bank to collect their bribes.
@Metal-Brain
You mean you don't accept any answers not agreeing with your conspiracy nut theories.
And you wonder why you have zero credibility here.
@sonhouse saidFrom you, a guy that thinks Trump faked Covid 19? LOL!

@Metal-Brain
I never said I believed that. But a lot of people do.
OF course YOU think Trump is superman.
He is really a traitor and has proved that time and time again.
The latest BULLSHYTE coming out of Trump, firing the civilian leaders in the Pentagon and putting in yes men sycophants who under Trumps orders are stopping the Biden transition team from accessing intel data they need to understand what is going on.
Then there is the BULLSHYTE tweet that Trump said: CHINA is responsible for the computer hacks coming from Russia, which is his standard response since he kisses Putin's ass every time any Russian subject comes up.
Or did you forget the meeting between Trump and Putin where Trump says 'Putin strongly denies any involvement in our elections'.
But of course NONE of that matters to you since you are ALSO anti American, anti democracy.
You WANT an authoritarian assswipe like Trump to be THE power over house, senate AND SCOTUS.

Force the Vote is trending . How did that happen ?
@no1marauder saidIn 1963 the Civil Rights Bill failed .
I listened to about 30 seconds of that foul mouthed rant.
There is nothing "fake" about AOC's support for Medicare for All. Whether it makes sense, right now, to push for a vote on it that has zero chance of passage while there is a COVID stimulus package and an overall keeping government funded bill on deck, is a legitimate issue.
In 1963 the Civil Rights Bill failed .
In 1964 the Civil Rights Bill passed !
Good thing you were not advising Dr King on that one , lol .
To not be aggressively pushing for Medicare for All during the worst health crisis in over a century is pathetic ! It is a pandemic !
Please enlighten us with just what could be more important to address at this time ?
