@mott-the-hoople saidWill you push for laws that restrict freedom for some members of society ?
whatever I want within the laws..what do you think freedom means?
It's nice to say you will exercise your freedom within the laws while some laws restrict freedom for some.

@mott-the-hoople saidAre you still talking about freedom ?
the laws I dont like...because I dont like them.

@indonesia-phil saidYou should have said:
This is true, most Americans wouldn't know a hard left policy if it jumped up and bit them. In my line of work I've met and befriended many Americans, and I haven't met a bad one yet, but their political perceptions are way off beam from a European perspective.
Most Americans wouldn’t know a far-left policy if it nationalized banks and unionized prostitution...

@mott-the-hoople saidSo nothing to do with freedom as a universal concept then, just a personal construct of freedom based on your preferences which would include the right to restrict the freedom of others.

@kevcvs57 saidIntersesting points being raised here by you, Mott, and others. My spin:

*Everyone* has freedom - except for criminals. They lose a lot of theirs in prison.
Now, I do make exceptions and draconian laws that a congress can pass, but that
is the same for everyone in most cases.

@earl-of-trumps saidThe point to be made here is that freedom is relative.

(Try robbing a bank to test out that statement).
Too many think of freedom in absolute terms.
@mghrn55 saidMy God, man, if I tired testing my statement by robbing a bank, my statement holds true.

Criminals lose their rights.
Remember me? I'm the Libertarian in here. "The right to your fist ends at the right of my chin"
There can be no such thing as absolute freedom for all in a just society, of course.
