It would behoove them to do so unless they like the idea of being killed themselves. Myself, I have to admit liberal leanings but not when it comes to defending my household and wife and children. I'm sorry if that upsets anyone but you can take that one to the bank. If that makes me a frothing at the mouth right winger so be it. If some SOB breaks down MY ...[text shortened]... s away at the time. They killed my dad in that robbery. You bet your boopie I would fight back.
The post that was quoted here has been removedIt's obvious the UK government would rather cart away an innocent victim than cart away a dead thug. I wonder how long the population of the UK will put up with that crap? You can't even say 'Help' when being attacked? You can only use a briefcase or car keys to defend yourself? What kind of insane idiots do the have making laws there?

GRANNY.
NRA puts out The American Rifleman magazine and one of their regular columns is The Armed Citizen, each month they cover news items of people defending their homes with a firearm. Funny how the stories don't get much coverage in the regular press, they're too busy selling the philosophy that a gun in the house is more dangerous to them than an intruder would be.

1) The toy gun thing is ridiculous, but notice how your source says they were charged, but is silent on any convictions. (meaning there were none)
2) The farmer did not kill in self-defense, he killed in defence of his property.
3) First one of Smaug is lacking in details, so it's hard to make any judgement on it.
4) Second one of smaug is certainly not self-defense, the burglars were running away, so they weren't a threat to him.
