So many people try and help the environment without really making a difference. After some consideration I decided to post some of the things that I do to try and be a good environmental steward. And some things I don't do. I'm interested in how people try to make an impact or don't.
Things I Do:
1) Try to keep down trash by buying glass bottled milk from local dairy, only buying soft drinks in metal cans so they can be recycled, try to cook home cooked meals or eat at sit down restaurants as much as possible to prevent packaging waste (If you've ever eaten on the road for a week and not thrown out the trash it's impressive.).
2) Energy efficient lighting in my apartment, saves roughly 30-40% each month on my bill in addition to being good for the environment.
3) Try to buy local foods from neighborhood farmer's market from April-November. Buy organic sparingly (sorry, it costs more.).
4) Drive a Honda, it's not the most energy efficient car out there, but it's a car. At current time there is not a bus that runs from my house to work, if that changes, I may change accordingly.
Things I Don't Do:
1) Don't recycle things other than cans because to my knowledge it's not actually energy efficient. Still debating this one.
2) Participate in annual earth day clean up, kinda wish I did.
3) Use mass transport.
4) I'm sure there's loads more I haven't thought of.

how about a one-child policy for all nations that follow the Kyoto protocol?

Stop yapping about something scientists can't even agree on and instead tell me about how you help the environment by say picking up trash in your front yard etc.
