In my case I didn't have a choice whether or not to get one. We're required to stay current with our flue shots and many others, including anthrax and small pox.

there's bugs you can bring back that can wreak havoc amongst the US population. i've heard of a drug-resistant strain of pneumonia that came from iraq. bad for old people in hospitals.

likely the intent is just to keep your uptime up, tho.
