Of course. I thought that Freemasons were connected to stone masons, but this idea may be wrong. It could be that Freemasons merely adapted the symbols of real masonry to identify with the idea that both groups have knowledge that is held secret.
I've been meaning to read "The Hiram Key"
Read the Hiram Key with a grain of salt.

Technically, the only stuff that is 'really secret' are
the 'Modes of Recognition,' that is the secret words,
grips, and hand gestures that accomany each degree.
Literally imparting ritual (or specific parts of ritual,
depending on jurisdiction) is also considered a no-no.

However, the ethical messages, the general gist of
ritual, and the symbols are all free topics for Masons
to discuss with 'profane.'

The purpose of Masonry is, through the improvement and
strengthening of an individual's character, he improves the
community. The allegory of the construction of a temple
only serves as a metaphor for explaining how this is done
on a personal level.

Thanks for the link.
The Masons here where I live seem to be never far away from charities and general community works.

And they are so powerfull,in their charity. They raise funds for those who would never know.Only the fund-raisers know what they where doing.I put it to you that, that is not masonic.I put it to you, that it is Christian.

Well, given that not all Masons are Christian and that none
of the Blue Lodge ritual is specifically Christian, I'd simply
say that both Masonry and Christianity (ideally) are Altruistic.

Mason's rock,

I believe their traditions about cutting rock without metal etc go back to the time of the tower of babylon,

that's a point doesn't america go against god by building so many towers.
