I would think a nuclear bomb on Mecca during the height of Hajj would have been more appropriate response instead of all the pussyfooting around with Afganistan and Iraq.

EVERY major decision is made in "committees", no matter which "democratic" system you look at. The "Lobby" groups tell a democracy what is right, wrong and what to do.
You're just a tool for them to create wealth with. Democracy is one of the tools they use to keep you under control; from not wanting too much; to give you the impression that all is fair and well in YOUR country.
Sometimes the democracy they give you isn't enough. The Russian revolution taught them a lesson. So they give you a little more to keep your mind from wondering astray from your job. Your job being to keep them wealthy. The little more they give are found in the little things like union laws, voting rights for women, etc. Little things that don't change your position in their eyes, but make you believe that all is well and fine... in YOUR country.
The second thing you have to understand is that there are and never have been any countries. "We" think in countries, they think in "our world". And you are not part of the "our".
Third thing you have to comprehend is that religious, political and cultural wars do not exist.
All wars are about a small group of people making money, power or grabbing land. Religion, etc. are just excuses they use to motivate you: "Your culture is under attack". And so you go off to defend "YOUR culture" in "YOUR country."
The madness you are seeing Marinkatomb is of no interest to the men in power. WE are not going to do anything about it anyway. We've got our playstations and our sat nav's and our bars and our 100+ TV channels each.
WE're tranquil.
Yes, we can vote in another political party. But all political parties are run in small rooms by lobby groups.
