@very-rusty saidTo make America great again it will be necessary to rocket all Republicans to the far side of the moon. Once there, they can built a mighty swastika-shaped fortress and play out their Iron Sky fantasies until the sun goes nova.
Of course the answer is simple Trump has to go!

@eladar saidI cannot believe that you believe what you write. I conclude that you are one of Putin’s agents, whose purpose here is to propagate misinformation and sow discord. Who but a Russian agent would post such relentless tommyrot in Debates and yet pretty sensible stuff at the Chess only forum?
You cannot stop the bleeding, only prolong it.

Digging, digging, digging for water.
But, the well is dry;
and so is my eye.
As the manipulators,
find themselves manipulated...
into fodder.

The post that was quoted here has been removedRather than a definition of greatness, I will offer two examples of America's greatness.
The nation was founded on the principle that that government is legitimate which governs (not rules, but governs) with the consent of the governed. This was a radical idea at the time, indeed revolutionary. Until that time, rulers ruled either by divine right or by sheer force, monarchs or dictators for life. Furthermore, this principle has been tested and found sound for over 240 years. For over 240 years, power has been transferred regularly, frequently, orderly, and peacefully. That is more than can be said for either Russia/USSR or China over the past 240 years.
Even if the present U.S. presidential campaign delivers more show than substance, it will be the 45th time in a row that the office has been vacated and (re-)occupied without violence or military intervention. I doubt you can name three other countries in the history of mankind which accomplished that 45 times in a row. America will be remembered and admired for this long after its power and influence have waned.
Second, the invention and perfection of an art form is a demonstration of greatness. One might mention the drama of the ancient Greeks, the monumental statuary of the civilizations of the fertile crescent, and the porcelain of China. America invented and perfected several art forms: jazz, soul, blues, gospel, and motown, for example.
Many other examples of America's indelible contributions to world history could be enumerated, but I won't bother because you would find other reasons to denigrate America no matter I or anyone else said. In any case, neither you nor any president, however foolish and corrupt, can erase the two great legacies I mentioned.
