...the US would be Canada(no offense, Canada is a lovely country, just different).
It broke France but they financed much of the US Revolution.

If it were not for France being unable to provide credible opposition to the Nazi war machine, the US may never have been required to enter WW2!

That seems unlikely. Even if we accept the idea that the Revolution which started in 1775 would have failed without French intervention (which is far from certain), British control of the American colonies couldn't have lasted much longer in the face of such widespread opposition.

Ironically, its the lack of opportunity to be able to legitimately express their rights as Englishmen in the way that the colonists were denied representative rights on the motherland, while having to suffer the dictates of centralised power that sprung from the epicentre of that sceptred Imperial isle, that gave rise to enough widespread dissent to ensure that the colonists would have eventually found some way of declaring self rule. It was only 'Common Sense' after all.

Guess you should read up on the Battle of the Chesapeake and The Battle of Yorktown (which Cornwallis surrendered). The revolutionary troupes had little to no Navy and the French basically stood up to the Masters of the Seas for 3 years eventually crippling them enough in the Americas and around the world to make England buckle.

Guess you should take a reading comprehension course.

Question: How did Cornwallis end up in Yorktown?

Is that a Marxist-Leninist position, or your own individual prejudice?

Eh ... a little bit of both. Probably more of the second.

It broke France so much that a few years later they conquered virtually all of Europe.

EEK. That's really bad history.

The war debt was a major cause of the French Revolution.

I have a World War 2 era French Army rifle for sale. Excellent condition. Never been fired, dropped once. 🙂

I think the French in the earlier times had a hell of alot more guts and were much bolder than the French of today. We also would not have lady liberty in NY. So overall I think the French are great....unless ....
