In my small Nordic world I can count interracial couples with the fingers of my right hand.
In the 3rd world, from where I come, though, mixing is easy to see.
Let's wait for someone to enlighten us, then.

why does it matter?
It does matter. Interracial couples are a good sign for any society, because it means the race barriers are falling. I wish there were more interracial couples.
Also, they help disappear the idea of "pure race", ether by image or when procreating (in the case of straight ones).

I would guess that the reason you feel there are more gay interracial couples is mainly a question of lifestyles.

I thought you were just asking the question for the sake of asking.
Good point, in my native Brazil there are many interracial couples, that would explain why 40% of the population is brown, so I guess racial barriers there are less than in europe.

There are no reliable figures out there, that's why I am asking opinions.
Edit. I am in an interracial life partnership.

Ok, in that case I'll just lurk here quietly and suck at the twigs of the tree of knowledge and hope that some Washington D.C. or New York types rock up and set us all straight on this issue, for I am currently resident in a place even futher down the league ladder than 'second string' places like Singapore or Hong Kong, or Sydney.
