So far there are no gulags for government critics and while the major media is corporate dominated, there are plenty of sources for news and commentary from progressive viewpoints. To assert otherwise is completely inaccurate and downright silly. [/b]
I really don't care about STANG's post or whether it was censored, I just want to know what makes this an American website. It is my understanding that the site sits on a server that is in the US, however all the money goes to England. And the people that moderate and run this site are in England. So what makes it an American site?

No.
Nothing is more damaging than a lack of creativity.
anything which could be stated as worse, also damages creativity.
Creativity is what life is about. It's beautiful. It should never be destroyed!
Don't get me wrong, I value my creativity rather highly, but freedom and love are just two things which I can rank much higher on my priority list than creativity.
I don't mean to be argumentative, I'm just trying to understand what you're getting at...

They don't have this whilst censoring posts and banning their (subscription paying) authors.

What's love if you can't be creative?
They're basically empty shells, dished out to you to keep you happy and productive.
Sure you're free. You've got to work 40 hours a week to be so. You come home and watch Idols, The bold and the beautiful and the local news about nasty refugee children spraying graffitti.
Then you drink some beer, shag the wife and go to bed.
That's freedom.
It's not that great.
If you've been taught to expand your mind, to think up new solutions to whatever problems lay before you, then true freedom will shine upon you like God's flashlight in a cellar.
Then you'll realise that painting your masterpiece in a prison cell is more fulfilling than going to work to make someone else richer than he already is...with all the freedom in the world.
That's why we should promote creativity.
Originally posted by DreamlaXI really don't think that is the case. Anyone can go to www.godaddy.com and register a .com and host it on a server anywhere in the world.

You all just want to blaim the US for any and all of your problems. "This American site censors my posts" Well STANG look to the mother country for this one. For a change it isn't our fault. 😛

Why is "state" almost always a mandatory field, and in some cases, a drop-down list with no "Other" or "None"? These aren't forms for anything particularly American. I wanted a free e-mail address, but unfortunately I don't live in any American state, but it allowed me to select New Zealand. Go figure.
Is this supposed to be a joke?
A conversation I had with an American over IRC:
"Where are you from?"
"New Zealand"
"Oh, what state is that in?"

www.deutschesprache.com <- would most likely be hosted in Germany.
However, seeing a random .com website, what country comes into your mind first?

But I disagree...
"That's freedom.
It's not that great."
That's not freedom. That's the life you choose to live. Creativity has nothing to do with it. It takes ambition for the poor fellow you describe to get off his ass and do something different for once but who says he needs creativity?
Tell me, would you rather be creative and artistic yet have all your religious and political views suppressed or would you rather be a tad dull but be able to live the life you choose without fear of oppression?
Also unrelated, but can creativity become evil? Can it take the form of racism, violence, prejudice and hate? What then?

Creativity means exploring beyond the boundaries of one's upbringing.
Ambition?
So, you're ambitious to climb higher up the chimp ladder. So what? Where's it gonna get you? Longer working hours, more mortgage and a higher chance of your house being broken into. Add a few shrink sessions and....well...maybe....just...maybe....a swimming pool in your back garden!!
Halleluja!
The poor fellow I describe is the majority. He's not on his arse because of laziness. He's on his arse because many forms of expanding his creativity are withheld from him.
Censorship is one such a tool.
The ruling class, you see, doesn't want the average pleb to be creative. Nobody would go to work then.
