Because they know what it is like to live under a communist dictatorship and their memories of it are still strong. Those countries are more free economically than the United States is. There are less regulations, bureaucracies and their tax rates are much lower because of the flat tax.

Finally, someone who takes an interest in the actual plan that is in consideration.

Your assumption, of course, is that there is a "guarantee". In fact, with the present social security set up it would appear that most of us may not see so much as one pay check from social security because it is a system that is destined to go bust. You see, these politicians that you seem to think care about us are actually robbing funds from the social security pot. However, it would seem that they would like additional funds from us.

Big D, although overrun with illegals, is still home to many sensible people. Also, it's part of Texas, where there are no unions. If you haven't looked around, the economy is very strong here. The reason is because it's a "right to work" state. Housing and cost of living are cheap (relative to either coast, Chicago and Michigan), the climate is nice and it's the only place where you can get good Tex/Mex.

Don't be too hard on him. After all, his Yankees did not make it to the play offs for the first time in over 200 years. In addition, they tore down the stadium. That's what happens in New York when you miss the play offs I guess.
