So, I read in the news that Air Force One did a low level fly by of New York city, buzzing a bunch of office towers, in order to snap a few promotional photos for an upcoming PR campaign.

No advance notice was given to the public so of course the site of a jet that low caused mass evacuations and panic. Apparantely Obama didn't know about it, nor did the New York mayor but rather it was conducted by the Department of Defense.

To me, this seemed like a test of the Emergency Preparedness system. Anyone have any other info or was this really just a horribly stupid photo-op?

It seems there was more to this than just a photo op...as i suspected!

Just posted in an AP article 1 hour ago...

"The photo op was combined with a training exercise to save money, according to another administration official who also spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak publicly about the behind-the-scenes discussions about the flight."

How much do you want to bet that if Bush were still President, this would be blamed on him?

Heck, it still might be.

My god. Get over it. Obama won. You'll have your chance to vote for another republican puppet in 4 years.

Shows how much you know. I voted for Gore in 2000.

Okay, let's make this simple: Do you or do you not think the media treats Obama more friendly than it did Bush? Simple question. Yes or No.

Flying a jet through downtown NYC to save money? What, were they switching to GEICO as they looped around that high rise building?

Seriously, how much does it cost to take a couple snapshots of the plane on the ground and then have a 13-year-old Photoshop them into a background of NYC?

replace "friendly" with "respectfully" and I'll agree. But there is a good reason for it.

Perhaps you should re-familiarize yourself with your own President's words on the relationship between the President and the Press. It would be well worth your time. I invite you to pay attention.

Think what you want. I don't give a hoot what you think. The fact is the fact.

I will admit to voting for Bush in 2004; though that wasn't so much a pro-Bush vote; more of an anti-Kerry vote. I still think that Bush is a good person and I like that fact that he sticks to his guns and I agree with much of what he stands for. Unfortunately, he's too stubborn and too often doesn't let reality get in the way of his ideology. The same could be said for dogmatic liberals like Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi.

Fortunately, Obama seems to let reality influence his decisions as, so far, he's resisted the hysterical ravings of the far left; although the jury's still out on his ideas and I hate the idea of trying to use deficit spending on a hodgepodge of unrelated social programs as means to climb out of a recession. But, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and I sincerely hope he knows what he's doing.

So in other words, you did vote for Bush!
Your "Shows how much you know. I voted for Gore in 2000" response to Uzles' comment that : "You'll have your chance to vote for another republican puppet in 4 years" was disingenuous.
Typical in fact of a republican, like yourself.

As for your further claims that "Bush is a good person"...which planet are you living on?
For a huge list of the way he screwed the environment, eroded people's rights, prevented choice for women seeking abortions, etc, etc, see the following:
