Oh come on, don't panic, it's buying time not a bear market.

At least Credit Suisse's analysts say so 😕

Is 40 million not enough?
It more than likely means the taxes in that area do not allow people
to think living there and taking the pay those jobs give is enough.

I think cost of living is more the issue, at $9/hr with 2 children, you don't pay taxes except 7.65% social security

Sure we all do, we pay taxes every time we buy milk for our kids
or anything else. Businesses pay taxes that raise the cost of
everything so the cost of living goes up, because it cost more to
make things you require. The amount of money gas is taxed raises
the cost of every thing that is affected by that, it is all connected.
Which is why I hate hearing some politician claim that they want to
tax our way out of the trouble we are in, when in fact if they stopped
spending or giving away much of our money to make themselves look
good the government would not need so much less than they do now
to make ends meet. Look at the areas that are in real trouble most of
them are liberal bastions of giving away tax payers money and those
that receive a small crumb of that money keeps it so.

Is social security a tax? Is it not a "forced payment" retirement scheme?

Does it matter what you call it, it is being taken and that is that?

If jobs go begging in the United States, it's because people would rather exhaust their unemployment benefits or go on foodstamps or welfare rather than work.

Sorry if I didn't make my post clear, I meant payroll taxes. As to your point; taxes on gasoline pay for highway projects, so you can get back and forth to work (ostensibly). Taxes on cigarettes and liquor are sin taxes, you don't like paying them, then don't buy them. In Massachusettes (taxachusettes) we have no tax on food or clothing, or other life essential products. As far as companies paying taxes and passing that on to us...that is a whole different thread, but to be brief, if companies WOULD pay there fair share of taxes, then you and I wouldn't have to.

Well, one reason is that if the government provides you a subsistence level existence, then you're free to spend your hours as a hustla, gangsta, pimp, thief, etc.

What would happen to your stocks value if companies paid more taxes and made less profit?

The cost of doing business is the cost of doing business, and if you
raise that things cost more, taxes are just part of the puzzle, the
more they pay the less people can get in their pay checks too.

Isn't that lucky for me. I'm in upstate South Carolina. I could commute to the Quaker State and, with gas at 3 bucks a gallon they'd only have to pay me.....
