I'll do the work Floyd wants to do for 50 cents an hour less. I'll go anywhere you want me to go.

I'm hungry. Floyd's fat and spoiled. I'm the man for the job, not this whiny wannabe welfare queen...

I'm of course assuming we're discussing a job Floyd wants 16 bucks an hour for. I already make 15 bucks with full benefits.

I wonder why?

well, for one thing, they're expecting jobs to just pop out of the air, without managers, banks, corporations, or any of those nasty capitalistic things.

Oh my goodness... I won't waste time here, but you must read the
reports on maquiladoras by human rights watch and similar
organizations.

There are no soft hearts in the business world, baby, it's all business
you see.
The reports I saw on maquiladoras made them look an awful lot like the Nazi work sites for concentration camp prisoners. They were locked in (barbed wire, guards, etc.), grossly overworked and underpaid, denied breaks ... all the things the unions ended here as well as practices that no one got away with here once slavery ended.

That and the Baby Boomers failed to replace themselves and there aren't enough people to fill their jobs.

I read recently in the LA Times that there are new training programs for Mexican immigrants starting up. Companies need competent, skilled workers.

You can't? You must have too many luxuries, or you must be trying to support dependents or something. I live fairly comfortably on $15 an hour in Los Angeles.

One thing you seem to have under control in the US is the cost of living, it seems really low compared to the UK. It seems that your economy relies on keeping prices and wages low, this means that the better off have a really fantastic deal.

I wonder how much of that is taxes. I know that our gasoline taxes are much lower than Canada's and the UK's.
