In one town I lived in when I was a teen, Escondido California, had an unwritten rule, if you are black or brown, ok if you work here but come 5 PM you better be out of town.

Wonderful place to live if you are white.

The mother of my wife's bestie would claim up and down she was not prejudiced but she was a real estate agent and once we asked her about blacks buying houses where they lived in Centerburg Ohio, dead center of the state, would swear on a stack of bibles she was not prejudiced but when asked what she would do to stop blacks from buying houses there, quote, 'We have our ways'.
