@vivify saidJon seemed to be saying that we should require regristration, which of course I agree with. I agree with putting every owner's name on any bullet he buys. All cool. But we already require registratoin. Is the gun guy against registration.
An excellent segment from Jon Stewart with an Oklahoma state Senator on gun safety and the 2nd Amendment.
This is a serious interview: no comedic bits, no gotcha questions, just pure common sense:

I found Jon to be somewhat condescending, smart ass, the gun guy was quite the gentleman. He does not want his kids to see drag, Jon thinks it is OK because the drag losers have a right to drag. He was all about that, but like the libs here, avoids rhe real issues of harm to children. I have always thought him gay, so he is naturally going to defend the drags. He was busy being cutte and did not stop to say that drag is bad for children. Certainly everhone on the Forum thinks it is bad for children.
With all his smart ass, Jon did not go to the obvious step of telling us what in the hell he wants to do about guns. Gun guy was spot on about the fatherless homes, but that did not seem to bother Jon. He was too busy trying to 'win', when gun guy was asking to talk solutions. He got the same response from Jon that we conservatives get from you little guys on the forum. NOthing, or changing the subject. Jon.....what is your solution?
@AverageJoe1
Funny how drag queens are now child molesters when 20 years ago that was never an issue till lately you repub zombies decided it would be a good political move to weaponize their lives and have a cause where more people can be hated now by repubs.
Let's see, you zombies are programmed to hate blacks, hate independent women, hate gays. hate drag queens, hate democratic party members, LOVE Trump, agree with him Putin is a GENIUS, just ask Trump.
Don't forget the hatred of Jews now that the white nationalists have the ear of zombies.
So the only folks left to not hate are white folks and ONLY rich white folks, THOSE people you love.
You bunch are the sickest generation of republicans to come down the pike in the last 200 years. You are all disgusting and should be given your own reservation just like the white nationalist neonazi's want for Jews and no doubt blacks and anyone with slightly brown skin.
You people are the sickest version of humans I ever had the misfortune to have seen write here.
You all just puke out whatever the repub zombies want you to say.
BTW, on the Jon Stewart video, Jon did NOT come of as arrogant, he was asking serious questions, like the gun owners name on the bullets or registration of nutters who want guns and bare minimum, change the age to be able to buy guns to at least 21 so 16 year old kids whose brains have not fully developed and have less controls internally about violence whereas when they are at least 21, they have been out of HS for several years and the angst those kids felt in HS will be long gone, much more adult thinking going on by then, well SOME more adult thinking and that dude being interviewed is WAY ok with Americans not have 'just' 400 MILLION guns but would be ok with Americans having one BILLION guns, sure, that will make it safer.
His argument, guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill. Of course if they didn't have a gun, there would be thousands of LESS gun violence and BTW my own father was killed by gunfire in a robbery so I know what I am talking about.
If those robbers had only a knife, my father would have survived.
Same with ALL gun owners, why should we let nutters buy guns with ZERO background checks and the like?
It is a FACT JACK that the more guns there are here, the more gun deaths there are and if the number of guns owned goes to FIVE hundred million, then the number of deaths will go WAY over the 50,000 or so now dying of gun violence and that jerk has the nerve to say basically what's the big deal since more people die of OBESITY than gun violence, so I guess that shows you there is no big deal with gun violence.
Tell me how many gun deaths are there in the UK where not many guns are allowed?
Here is solid data of gun deaths in the US and in countries with more restrictive gun laws. It is a stark comparison, US at the top of the list by FAR.
But no big deal right, because GUNS don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people and they would have killed gun or no.
So a dude with an AR15 and 200 rounds in his cartridge can kill many people. So how many people would he have killed if he had gone nuts with a knife?
I bet you have no answer to that one since you are programmed to LOVE guns and see no problem with 18 year old kids shooting up schools, they just need psychological help and the guns are just incidental.
BULLSHYTE.
https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/us-gun-policy-global-comparisons
But OF COURSE this is just another liberal witchhunt, right? Totally meaningless because BLA BLA BLA.
The numbers speak for themselves.
BTW, I NEVER said or NEVER WILL say we should ban guns, just get common sense legislation in that keeps guns out of known nutters AND teenagers.
@sonhouse saidBTW no one has EVER SAID or NEVER WILL say stuff like this:
BTW, I NEVER said or NEVER WILL say we should ban guns
"see no problem with 18 year old kids shooting up schools..."
You make out you're the victim of others misrepresenting you, awwww boo hoo poor sonhouse, while in the same breath you're misrepresenting (lying) others.
You're a ranting trash talking potty mouth hypocrite.
@averagejoe1 said"is the guy against registration"
Jon seemed to be saying that we should require regristration, which of course I agree with. I agree with putting every owner's name on any bullet he buys. All cool. But we already require registratoin. Is the gun guy against registration.
Yes. So while you may be for registration Republicans like this guy are not, believing doing so "infringes" on the 2nd Amendment. It's this type of thinking that contributes to the insane amount of gun deaths in the U.S.
@averagejoe1 saidYou didn't get Jon's point.
I found Jon to be somewhat condescending, smart ass, the gun guy was quite the gentleman. He does not want his kids to see drag, Jon thinks it is OK because the drag losers have a right to drag. He was all about that, but like the libs here, avoids rhe real issues of harm to children.
He was highlighting the incongruency of fighting so hard to "protect kids" from drag shows while scores of children are murdered due to lax gun laws.
Lax gun laws which that Republican is helping to promote.
@averagejoe1 said"Fatherless homes" is a deflection from scores of people murdered by gun violence. Jon directly addressed it by pointing out many "fatherless homes" are caused by gun deaths. The Republican, of course, side-stepped this point.
Gun guy was spot on about the fatherless homes, but that did not seem to bother Jon. He was too busy trying to 'win', when gun guy was asking to talk solutions.
Jon wasn't saying we should ignore the issue of fatherless homes, he was saying it's not a substitute for sensible gun restrictions.
@vivify saidBut flesh out the discussion.....He comparing the two (drags and guns) to what end? Iin my opinion, there will NEVER be any solution to 400 million gun ownerships. They are out there, nothing will change. I am being real. So we can have thread after thread, hearings after hearings, untold comments, and there will be NO change. No change.
"Fatherless homes" is a deflection from scores of people murdered by gun violence. Jon directly addressed it by pointing out many "fatherless homes" are caused by gun deaths. The Republican, of course, side-stepped this point.
Jon wasn't saying we should ignore the issue of fatherless homes, he was saying it's not a substitute for sensible gun restrictions.
So forget that, it is what it is. Let Jon fret about it. However, hairy naked men parading in front of children is certainly an arguable issue. Whether one is in favor of it or not, it CAN be changed, or regulated.
That is the crux of this thread, the crux of what they were trying to get at. I think the gun guy was curious how Jon think his discussion was a logical approach to the gun solution. There is no gun solution, there possibly is a drag solution....
For example, a simple solution, they can dance but they cannot faux flagellate each other.
@averagejoe1 saidThe Republican said his efforts to ban drag shows were to "protect children".
But flesh out the discussion.....He comparing the two (drags and guns) to what end?
No child dies from drag shows. Scores of children are murdered from gun violence. So why does he fight against gun restrictions if he actually cares about protecting children?
That's a very logical line of questioning from Jon.
