(Shrug) I've made it clear that I don't accept Putin's excuses for starting this war and regard it as a Crime against Peace so I'm not sure what the relevance of this tangent is.

I believe a discussion of NATO actions since the fall of the Soviet Union is relevant to Kev's claim that it is merely a "mutual defense alliance" with a specific purpose of "containing imperial Russia".

Other sovereign states voluntarily joined for the purpose of mutual defence many of whom had been occupied by an imperial Russia from 1945 to the collapse of the Moscow based empire in the late eighties / early nineties.

The USA doesn't stay within their borders. If they had, wouldn't the same apply? Terrorists do not leave the USA in peace because the USA keeps invading other countries. Muslims have the same policy as NATO, an attack on one is an attack on all. Isn't that interesting? That means Islam should be allowed to expand throughout the world using your own logic. Not only that, if any are attacked all should declare war against the infidels who attacked a single Muslim nation. Right?
