ok STANG i think i am fair in saying that everyone has had an opportunity to answer this question. i think i am also fair in saying that people are sick and tired of you psoting this until you get the response you are looking for. i for one am fed up with this. this needs to be dealt with. i have decided that instead of begging you to quit posting this i will take a different approach. here is what i am going to do. the next time you post this question, i will immediately go to the higher ups and get it removed. for one you are spamming, and you are being a true annoyance to everyone here who just wants to enjoy a good debate. so you either need to find some new material on an already tired subject, or stick to playing chess. i hate to take this approach but i feel that there is no other way to get you to see the light. everytime i see your name come up in the forums i know what it is you will post--- that is of course the same question, or just a question mark. neither have any real content anymore and are just redundant. so PLEASE STOP!

What are your opinions on this issue ?

Well...

Either elections are open and fair. Or they're not.
I reckon old Rummy there thinks that if they can pull a stunt off like they did in Florida they can do it wherever they want.

I'm sure reality will settle in pretty soon though.

Surely this situation can't be a surprise to anyone. You could no sooner expect democracy to suddenly take root in Iraq than you would expect a crop planted in sterile soil to start growing. Democratic institutions can be installed but these are as fragile as dry twigs in the absence of democratic ideals.

There are many who suggest that bringing freedom to the people of Iraq is too important for America to back down now that things are getting difficult. Americans celebrate their own history enough that they should know better. July 4th is called Independance Day (as opposed to Democracy Day) because that's the spirit that gave rise to the freedoms that Americans enjoy. Democracy was established as the best means to ensure they would continue. So long as Iraq is occupied however, the ideals of independance and democracy are, to Iraqis, at odds with each other. If a democratic Iraq is truly our goal, the first best step is to end the occupation. What this will require of the US leadership is not to count more coffins, but simply to admit they were wrong. I would hope that comes as good news.

For democracy to take hold in Iraq will truly indicate a miracle of christian biblical proportions.

That is what makes it such a charming little war.

Little.

A thousand five hundred brave souls.

Five thousand civillians.

Three thousand baby killers.

Unknown "sacrificial" troops of Saddaam. Probably about 10,000

On July 3, 1864...

Twelve thousand brave souls died in a little over five hours fighting to free 648,000 slaves.

They did so and won out with courage.
And over 600,000 dead.

What the Americans know is based on history fighting for those in bondage. Such as the Iraqi's.
