Who was the biggest waste of vinyl - Nico or Yoko?
Why did the Velvet underground EVER allow that sour voiced woman to be featured on some songs? Did she supply the drugs? Did she own the amps?
Yoko had Lennon by the balls so that's the story there.
I vote for Nico simply because Lennon had the sense to store Yoko on side B whereas the Velevts alternated songs for Nico.

I can't remember Yoko's voice ever making anything sound good.
Originally posted by bot 6Apparently Yoko had quite a melodic voice. Because of the critique of society she wanted to make through the art of her music, she apparently forced herself to sing out of tune, which was a creditible performnce when you consider how well she achieved her stated objectives.
i agree... niko could at least hold a note
Originally posted by kmax87i can see your pro yoko. yes she was an artist and a talented individual, but leave the singing to people who can sing......oh ya, and singing off key on purpose is not a statement or an art. its stupid

Originally posted by bot 6Its also actually very hard to do if you are a musician, which apparently, she was quite a good one.

Originally posted by badmoonIt was all Warhol's idea to bring Nico into the group and feature her as the "chanteuse" (They were the Exploding Plastic Inevitable). The VU never wanted her as part of the group but caved to Warhol's request to have her sing on the VU & Nico album since he was ultimately fitting the bill for all of their recording and touring and essentially gave them their notoriety. Lou Reed, being the bastard that he is, always resented the fact that this talentless groupie parasite sang his songs in his band and treated her like trash, the way he treated most people. She wanted to leech off his song-ability. "Lou, write me song so I can sing like Bob Dylan". LOL. Once VU went their separate ways from Warhol and Paul Morrissey they immediately dropped Nico from the group.

there are heaps of better babes on the streets ot TOKYO or OSAKA
The Velvet Underground LP is brilliant not least so because of Nico's contribution. Yoko? If you want to be embarrassed by sheer stupidity and complete lack of talent, listen to her contribution to the The Rolling Stone's Rock and Roll Circus Video / DVD (A Whole Lotta Yoko, or something like that):
wiiieeeerrrrrr, weeiirieieeeeeee, aireeeeeeeee,wee, weee......
