@no1marauder saidback then we had borders, only American citizens lived here. Now with democrats in control there are not any borders. Things are spiraling out of control as we speak. Children are being sold on the open market.
They got by without presenting a photo ID in order to exercise their right to vote.

@mott-the-hoople saidRidiculous. For the first 100 years of this country's existence, we had "open borders". And there was far more immigration per population in the early 20th Century then there is now.

I must admit that I find it bizarre that right wingers use immigration as an excuse for voter suppression laws.
@no1marauder saidwrong again...an immigration policy has been in effect since 1790

@mott-the-hoople saidYou're goalpost moving. While the US had laws concerning Immigration and Naturalization, it also had "open borders":
wrong again...an immigration policy has been in effect since 1790
"For the first century of its existence, the United States had completely open borders. Though it is now derided as a far-left fantasy, in the eighteenth and much of the nineteenth century, the idea of someone simply coming into a new country and starting a life there, without any papers whatsoever, was eminently normal."

"For much of its history, America had essentially open borders, both before the establishment of the United States and after. In 1921 the Emergency Quota Act, initially intended to be a temporary measure, imposed the first serious restrictions on entry into the United States."

(The last sentence seems not totally accurate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Exclusion_Act#:~:text=The%20Chinese%20Exclusion%20Act%20was,all%20immigration%20of%20Chinese%20laborers.) but that law was passed more than 100 years after the nation's founding.
@mott-the-hoople saidOpen market comment classic, Mott. But tread lightly, as libs do not have any ‘humor’ capacity, Marauder might take you seriously and it could cause Forum problems.

Have you noticed how many different concepts, states, far reaching extrapolations, movements of goal posts, erc. have appeared in these 7 pages, over your one simple posted question.? I will give them credit tho for not mentioning Trump!
Marsuder, Do you know anyone that does not have an ID. Seriously.
@averagejoe1 saidWhy don't you answer the questions I asked you a page ago before I answer another one of yours:

no1 to AJ: Have you ever voted? Did you vote before photo ID laws?
Such laws didn't exist anywhere in the US until 15 years ago:
"But prior to the 2006 election, no state ever required a voter to produce a government-issued photo ID as a condition to voting." https://www.propublica.org/article/everything-youve-ever-wanted-to-know-about-voter-id-laws

Again, I am more of a present day thinker, I don’t know what in the heck happened in the old days, but we have major problems in this country right now I’m talking about voting in the next election.

@AverageJoe1
I may e missing some lib uncommon sense, but are yall saying that if a Mexican person does not have an ID, thg the Mexican person should be able to vote on the governor of my state ? By that logic, if I am touring Riussia next month while there is an election going on, should I be allowed to vote in the election???
@no1marauder saidYou know, Marauder, there was not a civil war then, which he have now going on. Maybe that is the problem? One of you libs, BTW, said a lot of this goes back to January 6. Silly me, I thought it was you and your friends burning and looting, ruining mom and pop businesses, which set all this in motion. Way before Jan 6.

As my history lesson showed, there is no necessity for photo ID laws to prevent people who aren't registered from voting.

Why dont you. And WHY WHY do you scared ninnies not answer Mott’s question? You could outshine Sonhouse!!!
Ninny.
It’s noted and very telling that your issue mirrors the concerns of all right wing republicans and is fundamentally a racially motivated concern that people “of-color” should have their right vote suppressed and or rescinded.
