You refused to read the NYP article I posted about the reality of the suppression laws.
The bottom line is republicans have lost the heart of America and are in a blatant power grab. It is really that simple.
Repubs led by the corrupter in chief Moscow Mitch who already said on camera NO to ANYTHING democrat so now we know not to even TRY to negotiate with the completely out of touch republicans where they don't even CARE the country is 80% in favor of ALL the democrat bills.
What do you say about THAT? The huge majority of Americans are FOR the bills.
But that just causes the republicans in the house and senate to go frothing at the mouth even more.
So why are the big corps backing the push to end these voter suppression laws?

Yes, just for the record, no one wants votes to be suppressed. What is that all about. We all want it fair and safe and legitimate (legitimate defined is that the voter is who they say they are). I suggest that they have an ID. What so YOU suggest Sonhouse? Marauder, the most liberal among us, says no ID. What say you? Legitimate, or not legitimate ??

Why do you go historical on every thtead? Anyway, yes i have voted for 50 years. I don’t remember if I had to show an ID in the early days.
Again, I am more of a present day thinker, I don’t know what in the heck happened in the old days, but we have major problems in this country right now I’m talking about voting in the next election.

I don't see any deadline BEFORE you can apply for an absentee ballot. https://www.elections.ny.gov/VotingAbsentee.html
The new law in Georgia makes it so that you have to wait until three months before the election to even apply for an absentee ballot rather than the previous law's six months. This is inefficient and senseless unless your intention is to discourage their use.
In Colorado, for example, where an overwhelming percentage (over 90% ) voted by mail, the state sends a mail-in ballot to EVERYone who is eligible.
Also, let's stop calling them 'absentee' ballots, since one does NOT have to be absent from the state to use mail-in ballots.
