Taking away religion would mean war. This thread is about peace.

It seems that absolute peace can only be acieved if we think the same things.

Peace is a fast retreating concept nowadays. I think it's time we had a massive global war to root out the crazies and cull the genepool. The weight of thought is directly correlated to the weight of human population and until we lessen that, the world's just too mad a place to ever have peace in. So to sum up, only a truly massive war will bring peace because people are too stupid to realise that tolerance means compromise. We're too concerned with getting one over on each other. To be honest, who wants peace anyway? We'd all end up lifeless banal studies in mediocrity. People need something to fight against, injustice, hatred, poverty, corruption. It makes us feel alive, it provides social structure, renewal, creation. It feeds the animal within. Some of, if not all of the greatest works of man were born out of a fight against something. The human condition is inherrent with the balance between hatred and tolerance, love and anger, war and peace. We need it to be what we are.

On a seperate thought, peace can never be achieved while religion exists, but to take religion away now would cause more war than we could withstand.

There will never be peace, Jesus said he did not come to bring peace but a sword.

The taking away in itself would acquire a war to do so. That's why your idea is an idea of war in itself. Many people before you have gotten the same idea and brought it into practice. You can read about the devastating results in history books. The last "grand" attempt to eradicate faith from the face of the earth was done in Europe not so long ago. I hardly would call that attempt an act of peace though.
